I am selling my car due to family obligations. I am the third owner of this 1978 Buick Riviera. I've had it for the past 20 years and I only drove it for a few weeks each summer. I stored it in the garage of my mom’s house for the 1st 17 years. After my dear mother passed away, I had to store it outside for the last 3 years. Recently some of the paint has started to bubble up around the doors and the chrome wheels have a little pitting but it is still very presentable and it gives a really nice smooth ride. I have pictures so please take a look at them. It is insured right now and I am driving it off and on for pleasure. This Riviera has 68,000 original miles on it (odometer is 110,000 kilometers as 1978 was the first year GM went to kilometers). It is two tone silver grey with a padded Landau roof. The motor is the Oldsmobile Rocket 403 cubic inch engine with a 4 barrel carburetor. It is a powerful motor that sounds good and has lots and lots of miles left in it. It also comes with power (steering, brakes, windows, locks, 6-way seats, trunk release), crushed velour 60/40 seats with twin armrests, remote control mirrors, tinted windows, opera windows, opera lights on the Landau roof, chrome Riviera wheels, bumper guards, a lighting package and a towing package. The tilt and telescopic steering are good and so is the cruise control and rear defroster. The digital clock and power antenna do not work. Both the air conditioning and trunk release used to work but don’t now. It has an AM/FM cassette Alpine radio and equalizer that used to work but doesn’t any more since I removed the power amplifier and rear deck speakers to put into my other car. The speedometer worked up until this year. I have looked after this car well since I bought it in 1990. I never drove it in the winter or the rain. I had all the regular maintenance done – even though I hardly used it. I also had the front windshield replaced, installed new wipers, new alternator, new water pump, new brakes (recently), new Pirelli tires, and, a new battery in 2007. I had it safety checked in 2005. I am not looking to get my investment out of this car. I just can’t look after it anymore. I know anyone who buys this car will not be disappointed.
