Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1958 Mercedes 190 Ponton Sedan. I don't have a title for it because the previous owner couldn't find one. It's a bit of a barn find. The previous owner claimed to have rebuilt the engine back in the early 1990's and then lost interest in the project. He also sandblasted the front end before losing interest which explains the surface rust evident in the pictures. The car then sat in his barn until I got the car as payment for helping him move 3 years ago. Since then it has sat in a shed at my house. In terms of work done to the car, anything the previous owner did will be good quality. He was a professional restorer specializing in Lincoln Zephyrs and other 20's through 50's vehicles. In terms of Mercedes work, he had restored two of these in the past. When I got the car, I stripped out the interior and cleaned the seats before realizing it would need more time than I could spare. I'm looking to get rid of the whole thing at once, I need the space for other projects. I'd like the car to go to someone who'll use it, but at the end of the summer I'll probably turn it in for scrap. This is a good chance to get a somewhat complete project car or base for a non-traditional rod of some type for next to nothing. Missing Parts: Radiator, Body pieces directly next to grill, Top of transmission including shifting forks, All shifting linkage, All belts, All hoses, Timing chain, Trunk latch Damaged Parts: Bent bumpers, Left side heater box (I have another perfect one to model it off of to remake), Trunk has a rust hole in floor, Rear directionals busted, Needs new tires Extras: Second grill, New steering wheel, Original trunk jack, Full set of rims with a full-size spare, Miscellaneous gaskets and such The engine is currently out of it and sitting on a stand in my garage. I've never shipped a car before, so whoever buys it will have to help me out in that regard or come pick it up. Thanks. EDIT: I went in to take the interior pictures this morning and noticed that the door seals are in need of replacement as well, Roof fabric was removed because of extreme decay when I got it.On Jun-27-10 at 19:21:18 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: The above lists are only what I know for sure. I didn't spend too much time on the car and so I don't know if anything else is missing or damaged. As such, the car is being sold "as is" Also, the rims mentioned in the "Extras" section could be a little misleading. I meant to say that the rims are in beautiful shape and that I have a full size spare which is also in beautiful shape. Sorry for any confusion. On Jun-29-10 at 19:18:37 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: I forgot to mention that I have the official service manual for the car. It will go along with the car to whoever wins.On Jul-02-10 at 18:12:08 PDT, seller added the following information: EDIT: As someone just pointed out to me, the car has a 100,000 mile odometer. This means that it is possible that the odometer has rolled over and the car could have 107,700 miles. I doubt it very much, but it is possible so I thought I should mention it.
