Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1966 12 Volt made in Germany This car has been in my family since 1973. It was purchased in Northern Mexico by my late grandfather who migrated to Mexico from Germany during the 1930’s. The desert climate and limited use has kept the body free of rust. In 2000 my father bought the car from my uncle in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua Mexico. The US title transfer was completed and is fully documented. I have the original 1967 Mexican title, registration and license plates. I am not sure why the car was originally titled as a 67. It may have been a crate car but most likely it’s because the car was originally titled incorrectly in the late 60’s. The identification plate, title, and VIN Number stamped into the frame under the rear seat match each other. My father restored the vehicle in Denver Colorado where it’s now located. He restored it as closely as possible to the original condition. In 2004 he passed away and I inherited the vehicle. It is Colorado registered, licensed, insured and fully functional. I store it in an attached garage and drive it a few miles per week so I don’t have to moth ball it. The vehicle does have a couple minor issues; the spare tire is missing, the hubcaps were ordered for the wrong year and don’t fit, the odometer occasionally gets noisy when traveling over 60 mph, the passenger rear ash tray is missing and there is a minor towing dent in the rear bumper. The rest of the vehicle is in excellent working order. The gauges are original equipment including the amp meter in the center dash above the stereo. The original engine was replaced with engine number B 5546 AD-0349436. It is a 1971 12 volt engine (50bhpDIN 65bhpSAE 1600). The 12 volt battery has a plastic cover over the positive side and the seat is rigged so that the coils aren’t close to the battery. The remaining electrical system has been upgraded to a 12 volt: generator to alternator, starter, carburetor, coil signal flasher, headlight relay, horn, wiper motor, exterior and interior bulbs. The transmission and gas shocks and fuel tank have also been updated. It runs like a dream without any problems. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on long trips if the weather is expected to be fair. The heat exchanger works as well as it’s supposed to. There are no oil leaks, transmission or engine problems.
