Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at my listing. Here we have a bare-bones '73 B-body with the venerable 225 CID Slant Six and 904 automatic. I bought the car two years ago from the original owner's family in Fresno, CA. Back then the seller insisted the car had 15K original miles, but I'm thinking it's actually spun over one time. Except for the automatic transmission, the car has manual everything. My aim was to rip it apart and restore it to its original "grocery-getter" condition, but time and space dictate otherwise. It runs and drives OK and I really wouldn't hesitate taking it on a trip (with tools nearby, of course). I drove it 200 miles from Fresno with no drama. Since then I've changed the oil and accumulated some parts. That's it! I say it runs OK because even though it starts and runs fine, I'm sure a carb rebuild and tune-up would do wonders. Look at it one of two ways: you could spend a little cash for maintenance items and have a daily driver, or use it as the basis for a complete restoration. The bad: the paint is 37 years old and faded, the dash is cracked and the front seats are baked & crispy, the headliner is gone and the AM radio gave up years ago. It has the little 14" wheels and several bangs and scrapes. The wiper arms and linkage are in the trunk and need new pivot bushings (the little white round things...you Mopar folks know what I mean). The front shoulder belts are gone. The speedometer is out of whack (odometer is fine). It needs shocks and an alignment, and it could probably use new brake pads up front. Like I said, it needs a few bucks in maintenance items. The good: the damn thing always starts and drives (like any old Slant Six). The body is solid and about 99% rust-free (there's a small, isolated rust hole in the trunk floor, about half the size of a nickel) with great rockers and floor pans. Lights, horn and cigarette lighter work great! Interior trim such as door panels, sail panels and kick panels are very nice. Finally, 1973 was the first year of electronic ignition, so no points to mess with. That's about all I can think of at the moment. The purchaser will also receive the following parts: One used steering column, also green. I was going to rebuild the second column and swap them out One set of new (but ancient) ignition wires Three (3) used, but nice, "Satellite" scripts for the C-pillars and trunk lid One nice (used) speedometer/odometer One NOS Mopar/Carter fuel pump Two (2) nice aluminum door sill plates One set of new window felts/rubbers One new rear parcel shelf If you're familiar with B-bodies, getting parts for these cars and working on them are a breeze. I spent much more than the reserve for this car and the parts, but it's sadly time to let it go. Please E-mail anytime or call me at 805-737-3076 (evenings/weekends), but remember I'm on the left coast, so adjust time accordingly. The car is located in Lompoc, CA, approximately 150 miles north of LA and 50 miles north of Santa Barbara. I will drive it a short distance to help with delivery, but please don't ask me to go any more than 50 miles. The car has CA tags good until November and is smog exempt. I'll take COD or a cashier's check for payment in person upon pickup. You can send a personal check as well, but it'll have to clear before I hand over the car. If paying by personal check, please do so within a week after the auction. Of course, the car is being sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Please ensure you're able to pick up the car within 14 days after the auction's conclusion. Starting price is a buck short of a grand, no reserve after that!
