Vehicle Detail
About the model in general If you are reading this ad, chances are you know EXACTLY what a legendary and amazing model the Subaru STI is, however if you wanted to know any of the car’s specifications you can find all of them right here – http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/wrxsti2005.html Highlights include: 2.5L 4 cyl turbocharged engine 300 hp @ 6k rpm 300 lb/ft of torque @ 4k rpm 6 speed manual transmission 0-60 MpH 4.6 sec braking distance from 70 MpH is 165 feet fuel economy is 18/24 MpG city/highway And of course, there is the all-wheel-drive. Not all AWD systems are born equal, and the Subaru Symmetrical All Wheel Drive is one of the best out there, by far. Don't just take my word for it, check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OzK-oRPCbs . The Impreza WRX STI also has a great addition to the AWD system and that is the DCCD (driver controlled center differential) which allows you to control how much power you want going to the front vs. rear wheels. To make a long story short you will not find anything with even nearly these performance numbers at this price, you will also not find anything of this performance at anywhere near the fuel economy… (the 2.5L engine is actually quite efficient if you keep it under 3k rpm which is when the turbo kicks in, during highway drives I personally attain almost 30 MpG just by driving calmly) Accessories: unlike the ‘plain’ Impreza, with the STI pretty much all the interior bells and whistles are standard, this includes: power windows power door locks power mirrors cruise control alarm system STi 3 spoke leather Momo wheel with red stitching High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights Brembo disc brakes 17x8" BBS alloy silver wheels (this is only a partial list, feel free to look up the link above for all the details) About this specific car This specific car represents a unique opportunity to own a remarkable vehicle at an unbelievable price, throughout my five years with this car I have done everything that needed to be done, and none of the things that shouldn’t be done… (if you know this model you know this can be an issue with young/irresponsible STI owners) 1. The most significant and noteworthy investment I made into this car is a heavenly custom designed and installed premium nav/sound system, if there is only one problem with Subarus it is that their radio/CD and speakers are not so impressive, and the interior is not as quiet as any of the German cars that cost twice the price… If you don’t want to compromise and want to drive one of the fastest cars around, while also enjoying your music to the utmost, your best bet is to buy an STI and just upgrade the sound system. In this particular case it is a $6,500 system (I have the original invoice) consisting of the following: a. Alpine head unit with large (double DIN) touch-screen, navigation, Bluetooth, DVD, CD, MP3, Aux, Ipod cable etc. b. The navigation unit can actually be pulled out and operated independently if you go away and want to rent a car somewhere else you can just pull it out and take it with you, see pictures. c. Focal Polyglass speakers, JL Audio 12 inch subwoofer, JL Audio and Boston Acoustics amps (separate amps for the speakers and the subwoofer) d. The sub and amps were professionally installed with a custom cabinet built into the trunk designed to blend in for color/texture while taking up the minimum amount of space possible. In the pictures I have placed an XL Arai helmet so you can gauge how much trunk space is still left. e. Maybe most importantly, one of the biggest parts of the project has to do not with the sound system but with the acoustics of the car! All of the car’s interior surfaces (trunk, doors, roof, etc.) have been completely soundproofed with Dynamat Extreme to improve the dynamic range and also isolate any exterior noise. f. The system was installed Nov-2007 and is under a five year TRANSFERRABLE warranty, until November 2012. g. Sadly this will not apply to many of you, but if you live in the Boston area I welcome you to come and listen for yourself. 2. The pictures speak for themselves insofar as how well this car has been treated and maintained (please note – the ipod and radar detector in the pictures are not included with the car). 3. I am the original owner, adult, non-smoker , never raced, never went to track days. 4. The car was serviced regularly and promptly as required at Subaru dealerships, ALL SERVICE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE. 5. The car was under a 5yr/60k mi extended warranty until very recently so there was no hesitation or delay in checking any and every potential issue. Subarus are amazingly reliable cars if cared for properly so luckily the only warranty coverage I needed to actually use was one O2 sensor, and one temp sensor (in the course of my five years with the car it has never given me any problems other than these). 6. The engine, transmission, exhaust and suspension are 100% stock. I have not modified any of these components. STIs are plenty-fast just as they are leaving the factory. In my opinion (unless you are racing on tracks), there is no need to pay a lot and/or risk sacrificing reliability and/or gas mileage for trying to gain any marginal performance by messing with the car. Whether you ultimately buy this particular car or not – beware of any modifications, and if you do buy a modified car make very very very sure that the work was properly done using the right parts and settings. I have heard many horror stories of people trying to gain a little extra horsepower for cheap and eventually destroying the engine. 7. Dealer-installed accessories I bought the car with include a short-throw shifter and the Invisi-Shield (the thin transparent plastic cover that invisibly covers the front of the car and protects it from being scratched by pebbles etc.) 8. The rear brakes and battery were replaced this last January, the clutch is only 15k miles old so also has plenty of life left, the car has Bridgestone Blizzak all season tires (you can see the remaining tread for yourself, probably 1 full winter season if you drive very aggressively, 2-3 seasons if you are calmer) 9. I am also including the car’s summer tires, Bridgestone Potenza, all with plenty of tread left (please note that the four of them will not fit in the car at the same time, make sure you or your shipper are prepared for this) 10. The car has 57k miles, and the front brakes were last done at 33k miles, yet they are only 70%-80% worn according to my mechanic, they have anywhere from another 1,500 to another 4,500 miles to go, depending on how you drive. 11. The annual inspection month for this car here in MA is April, and just a few weeks ago it passed the inspection immediately and without any issues. 12. FYI – Reserve is lower than buy-it-now price. Legal Stuff Since I have been with this car for 5 years, I don’t have any experience selling cars and I am also not a lawyer. However, looking at other ads today I found some guidelines which will probably be helpful in facilitating a sale while aligning everyone’s expectations properly. Please observe the following auction rules: 13. Please take this eBay auction seriously – your bid is a firm and binding offer enforceable by law. Please do not bid on this auction unless you are serious about owning this vehicle. 14. The car is for sale, not for trade. I am not interested in any other goods / products in exchange. 15. A $2,000 deposit will be required within 48 hours of auction close, with the balance due within 7 calendar days. If you are not paying cash, I will hold the title until my bank tells me the funds have cleared. Also, if you are not paying cash, please fax/email me a scan of a government issued photo ID. 16. If you like the car please plan on paying in full, and in cash or cashier’s check drawn from a U.S. bank with nationwide presence. Please have your finances arranged before you bid, otherwise you are potentially wasting your time and mine, as I will not offer loans or deferred payment plans of any sort. 17. Arranging and paying for transportation to get your car back to you is your responsibility. 18. I will be more than happy to leave my work for a few minutes to help in facilitating an inspection of the car if you so desire, but it is your responsibility to pay for the inspection and to make sure the inspecting party can meet me at the office park where I work, during normal hours. 19. The car is also available for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I also reserve the right to end the listing if the vehicle is no longer available for sale. 20. If you are not sure about something, Please ASK. 21. I reserve the right to cancel bids for excessive negative feedback. 22. The vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied (transferrable warranty for audio system responsibility of ServiceNet). Seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. 23. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle prior to purchase and to have satisfied him or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale.
