Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1967 Firebird 400. I have owned the car since February 2003. I have driven the car approximately 1600 miles during that period. All improvements 2003 or later have 1600 or fewer miles. Disc brakes and power steering were added to improve drivability. The odometer showed 26,000 miles on it when I purchased the vehicle (not real). I reset it to zero before beginning any work. I have driven the car primarily to area car events and cruises. I have stored the car in my garage and have not driven the vehicle in the winter or in bad weather. I am selling this vintage muscle car because I have more hobbies than time. The exterior paint is Base Coat/Clear Coat (Deltron 2000 by PPG, American Motors, DBC3629 Silver Poly). The original exterior color was red. The paint is in great shape. There are several minor flaws, which I have noted and photographed. The body, fenders, trunk lid, hood are solid. I ran an epoxy detector over the entire car and did not detect any. This is a Northern Ontario car and has not likely exposed to road salt. For F-Bodies the two areas prone to water leaks and rust were the cowl and trunk lid rear corner openings. The cowl repair was repaired with lead (as viewed from the interior underneath the dash). Any repairs to the trunk area are unknown due to re-paint. This is a Canadian car (Sudbury, Ontario) and has the GM PROTECT-O-PLATE. The date on the card is 02/25/67, which also indicates an early build date. GM PROTECT-O-PLATE is a “tar like” rust inhibitor. When I removed the door panels to re-key the locks, it was very much evident. The front bumper has minute scratches and would benefit from re-chroming. The drivers vent window has small pits in the chrome. I have a replacement vent window out of a 1967 Camaro (Arizona car). It will need the vent window seal replaced. The lower fender extension on passenger side has battery acid damage, typical of older f-bodies. There is a scuff mark above the fender extension. See photo. Fender extensions are available through NPD for approximately $40.00. There is a paint chip by wiper blade on drivers side – see photo There are several paint blisters on drivers side fender near the front window – see photo. The rear spoiler has a small vertical crack. See photo. The trunk floor shows rust discoloration. There was water in the trunk following the first time I washed the vehicle. The problem was corrected with a new trunk seal. The previous owner reported a small patch on the rear passenger floor panel on the driver’s side although it was not apparent to me. The passenger Side Headlight Grill has a crack above the outer light which is detected by touch and not visible when viewing. – this part is available through NPD for approximately $100.00 or could be removed and glued. Engine – correct for car, not numbers matching, HEI, mild cam, deep oil pan, runs great. Other than replacing the intake, carburetor, ignition wiring, spark plugs, setting the timing, installing headers, new valve covers, and oil changes I have not touched the engine. I keep a rug under the car and have observed no oil drips. 2.5” dual exhaust. All gages in working order (oil pressure hot and cold, engine temperature). All window mechanisms work (vent, front, and rear) Floor vents are in working order. Interior, head liner, dash, seats, door panels are very nice per photos. Carpet is good, but poorly installed. Work Completed Since 2003 Gage Console and 2-5/8” Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, and Amp Gages (manufactured by Auto Gage and purchased at Ramchargers). These have been mounted to the center console. The previous owner had toggle switches for horn and wiper. I used existing holes to mount gage console and corrected horn and wiper wiring. New windshield wiper motor and pump were installed (NPD “National Parts Depot”). Hood Tachometer – compatible for HEI (NPD) One wire alternator Drum to Disc Brake Conversion (10” stainless steel disc brakes manufactured by SSB Corporation). Manual apply. Proportioning valve for balancing front and rear apply. P.S. – added 9/1/05, from early model GTO New Pitman Arm - NPD Chicago Muscle Car Parts – Alternator and P.S. Pivot Bracket, P.S Mounting Plate, and Mounting Bracket. Correct for this vehicle BF Goodrich Radial TA’s (P235/60 R15 and P245/60R15) – new June 1, 2007 with approximately 400 miles of driving Thrust Angle Alignment – June 1, 2007 Classic Vintique Wheels with flanged Center Hub and Pontiac Emblem Aluminum Radiator and Hoses and Temperature Cap – (Summit). Typically the radiator maintains temperature at 180 degrees or less. Fan engages at 180, usually at extended idle or on very hot days. SPAL High Performance Electric fan with Detroit Speed HD mounting brackets Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold Dual Feed 750 Holly with electric choke and chrome plated dual return springs K&N Xtreme Air Cleaner and Top for maximum air flow Summit Chrome Valve Covers and Breathers Taylor Spiro Pro Ignition Wires Grant Steering Wheel and Horn (Classic GM with Pontiac Emblem). Hooker Ceramic Coated Headers (installed 2009). USA-6 Radio (replica of Pontiac AM-FM, 140 Watts, (no dash modifications were required), Boston Acoustic Speakers (each door and two in rear of car). Each speaker has been acoustically isolated and tuned by a friend who is a sound engineer. New Door Panels with Arm Rest and Pulls (NPD), originally car had deluxe panels. I liked the look and function of the standard panels better than the deluxe. Standard Red Front and Rear Floor Mats with Firebird Logo (NPD) Professionally remanufactured 3.55 Posi which is the correct axle for this vehicle, but not the original axle.. Professionally remanufactured Muncie M-21 Four Speed, which is the correct transmission for the vehicle, but not the original transmission. I believe the Hurst Shifter is the factory original shifter). New shifter boot gear shift console plate and slider (NPD). New Fuel Gage, Sending Unit and Gasket and Locking Ring New gas filler neck and gas line connector New Lower Ball Joints (Murrays Auto) Wolf Car Cover, original warranty book, and PROTECT-O-PLATE i.d. card available. Electrical diagrams and CD with Pontiac Motor manual also available. I have the radiator shroud, if you are interested. Thanks for bidding
