Vehicle Detail

I am selling this car for my brother, who has had a most miserable Memorial Day weekend. Gather round and listen to this cautionary tale of misfortune and woe. So here it is on Memorial Day weekend for 2010 and you have a great outing planned, camping, bike riding on the Katy Trail, attending a Memorial Day Service, more bike riding before returning to the work-a -day world on Monday Evening. So as you are rolling down the highway a mere 35 miles from your camp site, the car makes a solitary "thump". Suddenly you lose speed and find that at best you can maintail 30 MPH. Fortunately you have family and friends in the area, who have a shop and tools, so long story short you replace the two speed sensors on the transmission and pray that will solve the problem. Alas your prayers are unanswered so you seek professional (mechanical) help. Following the laying of hands and scanning of codes, your mechanic gives you the bad news, you need a transmission. In turn you also decide that this car needs a new owner. So here is what you are bidding on. This car has been well maintained. My brother has owned the car for four years and had no issues with it until last Saturday. He was planning on replacing the timing belt, water pump and serpantine belt, as you can see from the photo of the replacement parts in the trunk. Price these at the parts store and you are looking at $60 to $100 easily. Yes, they come with the car. The tires are about 18 months old, and have good tread. The car got very acceptable gas mileage, and never had any coolant issues. In short it ran great right up until last Saturday. Let's be perfectly clear up front, this car needs a transmission be it rebuilding the existing transmission or installing a used one from a salvage yard. It starts and it runs great in reverse, and forward as long as you are happy with a top speed of 35 miles per hour (down hill, with a tail wind), but that is not how most folks like to drive. This is either the beginning of a project or a source of parts for said project. Body wise there is rust on the rear quarter panel, and some surface rust on the leading edge of the hood. I have tried to show those areas in detail in the photographs. Seats, door panels and interior is dirty as shown, but intact. The car is located in Warrenton, Missouri, approximately 60 miles west of downtown St. Louis on interstate 70. I will accept payment by cash or cashiers check. Title will be transferred upon receipt and clearing of good funds. If you have cash, bring it, along with your tow dolley and you will be on your way into your next project. Bid early, bid often and good luck
