Vehicle Detail

Hi. First...here is a "copy and paste" link to additional, larger, clearer pics: http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w36/csb_09/1990%20bmw%20325ic%20%20black/?start=all . I purchased my (essentially) mint 1990 BMW 325ic (convertible) last year, from a middle-aged gentleman who had owned it for roughly 9 years. In that time, he had driven it very little (approximately 10K miles). Prior to his ownership, it had been driven very little as well. As a result, it now has 79,300 actual miles (both the speedometer and odometer work and a Carfax report will support the mileage…I’ve checked!). I suppose the car would be referred to as “triple black”…black exterior, black top, black interior. 5-speed MANUAL transmission, 2.5L M20 inline 6-cylinder engine, limited slip rear differential, 4-wheel disc brakes. The top is manually operated, which is a good thing as there is no convertible top motor to break. Here is a list of features/options: cold A/C, cruise control (works), power windows (all work), rear window defogger (works), HEATED SEATS (work), ABS brakes (work), central locking (does NOT work as one lock cylinder is from another car). CLEAN title, CLEAN Carfax/Autocheck, stored all winters with ZERO rust. The car starts right up, idles smoothly and drives just as you would expect a nice, low-mileage 325ic to drive. In other words…very, very well;). The engine pulls smoothly throughout its range and does not “hiccup”. The shifter bushings are NOT worn and the transmission shifts/works flawlessly. The tires are 15” Bridgestone Potenza’s with Borbet-style alloys. I have a receipt for a timing belt/water pump replacement (as well as a few other items)…these were performed around 65K miles. I just replaced the cat-back exhaust with a new OEM setup, then painted it black with high-temp paint (the muffler was original and had developed a small hole over the course of 20 years). The original Recaro sport front seats are in outstanding condition and were, in fact, kept in a closet for 10 years. It is rare to find these seats in this level of original condition. I still have the original rear leather seat, however, its seams have split. I recently purchased a freshly reupholstered rear seat and installed it, so all seats are in great shape. The original rear seat IS included…do with it as you wish! The original gray carpet is in next-to-new condition and there are no odd/foul odors. There are NO cracks in the dash, NO check engine (or other) warning lights on and everything appears to work properly (including the original radio and mileage/date monitor. The car also has a factory BMW 6-disc CD changer mounted in the trunk. The convertible top is new and OEM. A car cover is included. The paint shines very well and there is NO body damage. There are, however, minor scratches/imperfections here, and there, as would typically be expected in an unrestored 20 year-old vehicle (none are worth photographing). The interior is complete and fully functional. All exterior lights function properly. I have additional wheels available for any interested party. One set is a matching set of mint chrome 14” bottlecaps w/ good all-season tires, while the other set is a matching set of near-mint 14” basketweaves with good all-season tires as well. I also have an OEM BMW HARDTOP available. The hardtop came from a parts vehicle I used to own. It is in excellent structural condition, however, it needs minor cosmetic repair in order to be in comparable condition to the car itself. ***THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE CAR, ITSELF, WITH THE WHEELS/TIRES SHOWN AND DOES NOT INCLUDE THE HARDTOP OR EXTRA WHEELS/TIRES!*** If you are interested in any, or all, of the these additional items, please let me know and I’m confident we can work something out. Well…I guess that’s about it. I’ve owned many of these cars, over the years, and this is the nicest one I’ve owned. I am selling it because I have WAY too many cars and do not drive it often enough to justify keeping it. Please view my feedback and know that I am to be trusted. Lastly, feel free to contact me (Steve) at 763-742-9037 with any questions and/or concerns. Thank you! On Jun-03-10 at 23:09:38 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Due to the relatively high number of non-paying (and fake) bidders currently active on Ebay, please DO NOT BID ON MY LISTING IF YOU HAVE ZERO, OR SUBSTANTIALLY NEGATIVE, FEEDBACK UNLESS you contact me beforehand. I will attempt to cancel bids from zero/negative feedback members who have not contacted me first. No offense intended, but my objective is to sell my vehicle successfully and without issue. On Jun-04-10 at 17:11:24 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE #2: I spent a few hours detailing the exterior of the car today...then took about 17 additional pictures. When you copy/paste the Photobucket link above, the new pictures should be the first 17 of the bunch. I'm tired and I smell like wax, but I think it was well worth the effort;).On Jun-06-10 at 09:30:10 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE #3: I have received a number of similar questions, about both the car and its purchase, via email. Most of these were about shipping (or pick-up) arrangements. I will gladly pick the buyer up at the MSP airport. I will also gladly assist with shipping arrangements as I have, through the years, dealt with several transport companies in the sales/purchases of vehicles. Ideally, I would like to have the vehicle picked up by June 16. It is NOT a "dealbreaker" for me to hold it a bit longer, though. I have also received questions about whether, or not, the new top leaks water anywhere. Well...I don't actually drive the car in the rain, so it is relatively difficult for me to say definitively. I use my own pressure washer to wash the vehicle. Depending on the angle of the spray, a couple of drips will form on the insides of the front windows. Of course, this is when I spray sideways with more pressure than one would experience during rainfall, so I suppose it is to be expected. Lastly, I would honestly trust the vehicle to drive to any state in the country. It runs very nicely and is dependable. On Jun-06-10 at 16:57:03 PDT, seller added the following information: *FINAL* UPDATE...#4: OK, so...I have received several requests for me to reveal my reserve amount. Normally, I wouldn't mind making the reserve amount "public knowledge" and posting it in the item description but, in this case, and in the spirit of the "auction", I've decided I'll give just a rough idea instead. I originally owned two of these cars (simultaneously), and I sold the other one 2 months ago. It was an '89 325ic, red, with 150K and a 5-speed. I would say the red one was approximately 85% as nice as the currently-listed car is. It was in great condition for a car with nearly twice the mileage. That red car sold, to a gentleman from Texas, for $4K. Going in, I wanted the reserve on this car (the black one currently listed) to be very fair. So...with that said/written...the reserve amount, in this auction, is "more than $4K, but NOT higher than $5K". Hope that helps;)...Steve. On Jun-07-10 at 14:01:22 PDT, seller added the following information: OK...so I lied about being done with updates! I have one more! I have been asked to test the engine compression and post the results. So...WHEN YOU COPY/PASTE THE PHOTOBUCKET LINK IN THE ORIGINAL ITEM DESCRIPTION, THE FIRST SEVERAL PICTURES WILL BE THE COMPRESSION RESULTS (AND A COUPLE PICTURES OF THE HOOD...just for the heck of it). All cylinders show very healthy, essentially equal compression. The first one (nearest the timing belt) read highest because I let the engine crank longer than on the others. All 6 are between 155 and 165 or so and reach that point within 3 or 4 seconds. Regards, Steve. On Jun-07-10 at 17:50:01 PDT, seller added the following information: **I thought I should mention that the compression test I performed (today) was with the engine COLD (hadn't been run in ~24 hours). So...I expect it would be safe to assume that the readings would be even higher, across the board, at normal operating temperature.**
