I have for sale a 1954 Pontiac Cheiftan 2 door hardtop. The car has a 235 straight six and a 2 speed powerglide that came from a '55 chevy belair. These cars originally had a flat head straight eight and 3 speed hydro matic's. I do have a 1954 Pontiac Starcheif 4 door car that will go with the sale if wanted, It does have the original engine, I do not know if it can be used or not as it is currently stuck. The hardtop has been primed flat black with I would say about 85% to 90% of the bodywork done. The left rear quarter will need some work and also the trunk is dented in the back and the wrong length trim is currently on it. The trunk floor is rusted in the rear corners near the quarters where water would have gotten under the seams. The majority of it is in usable shape with the braces not rusted out. The floorpans in the car are in very good shape. Some one has tack welded flat sheet metal in the front pans where there was some rust, this does not go under the seat or up the firewall. The braces underneath are in very good shape with no rust that i can see. The drivers door has a small spot in the front where it is starting to get thin due to a mouse nest inside the door. The car has new hardware on all brakes cyl.,shoes, springs, some new lines installed, There is a power brake booster mounted on the firewall, The car stops good but could use some adjusting. It has no problem locking up the 4 original drums if needed to stop quickly. Master cylinder i believe is off of a pontiac fiero and is set up for disc brakes, RPV valves may be needed but are cheap and easy to install. Engine runs and drives good, it has not been modified, carb has been rebuilt. Entire vehicle has been rewired with a fuse box and wiring harness and all new wires. Front to back, headlights engine gauges steering column. fusebox has options for accesories it you want to add something. All glass is good but side glass is starting to delaminate on the edges. Windows roll up and down with no problems. All trim is on the car and in good shape. Grill is in excellent shape which is a very hard part to find for these cars. Interior is complete as far as trim and door panel tops, but need completley redone. The car runs and drives great front end is tight. I have no problem hopping in this car and driving it to work almost ever day in the summer. If you have any questions about the car, as i am sure i forgot something. The door handles have been shaved on the car, All original latch hardware is still in the door and has not been modified. If someone wanted to put the handles back on all that would be needed is to drill out the two mounting holes for the handles and they could be reinstalled. On Jun-04-10 at 15:22:59 PDT, seller added the following information: All of the original gauges work except the temp gauge(has an aftermarket under the dash) Speedometer is starting to skip, This is because of the speedo cable end wearing down. This can be replaced for not a lot of money.
