1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16 Cosworth Very Rare Car 1 of 2,000 imported to US! No Reserve Auction! Thankyou for viewing our auction. You are looking at a very hard to find 1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16 Cosworth Sedan. If you are looking at this car then you know how special of a find this one is. A brief history about this car: This high performance model was known as the 190 E 2.3-16, and debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1983, after its reputation had already been established. Three cars, only slightly cosmetically altered, had set three world records in August at the Nardo testing facility in Italy, recording a combined average speed of 154.06 mph (247.94 km/h) over the 50,000 km endurance test, and establishing twelve international endurance records. In roadgoing trim the 190 E 2.3-16 produced 49 hp (36 kW) and 41 ft·lbf (55 N·m) of torque over the basic single overhead cam 2.3 I4 engine on which it was based. The 2.3 L 16 valve engine made "185 hp (137 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 174 ft·lbf (235 N·m) at 4,500 rpm, the oversquare 95.50 x 80.25 mm bore and stroke dimensions ensuring that it revs easily up to the 7000 rpm redline"[5]. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) was less than eight seconds, and the top speed was 230 km/h (143 mph)[5]. This 190e 2.3 is a great driving car. The engine packs plently of power and mated to the getrag 5 speed manual transmission she is a blast to drive. The paint is in good shape all around for a 24 year old car, the hood is the only area that needs attention. The clear coat in a few spots on the hood is coming off (see pictures). The tires have plently of life, and the rims are in good shape. The car is 100% stock all around, no signs of racing of hard driving on this one. The transmission is solid, no grinding gears, the clutch is solid, no slips at all. When we got the car in we did a 4 wheel brake job which included rotors, pads, and sensors. Oil change with synthetic 5W-50. Both engine mounts, and all 4 spark plugs. The car runs great, no overheating nothing. The interior is in nice shape for its age. The leather seats are not torn or ripped. The carpet in clean, no strange smells or staines. The headliner is in very good like new condtion, no burns or staines anywhere. The dash board in clean, no cracks at all (see pictures). The power seats both work fine in the front, and all window roll up and down with no issues. The car needs a radio. As you can see in the picture it is missing, that is how we got it. We will try to fit a single disc CD player in there this week. This car is truely a piece of racing history from the 1980-1990s. This car was the true rival of the great BMW E30 M3 1988-1991 US. The handling is spot on, and the engine is very close in design to the 2.3L S14. The performance is very comparable. I can vouch for this because I have driven many E30 M3s. Good luck bidding! This car is ready to drive anywhere you want to go. Be unique...
