RARE! 1951 DESOTO S-15 CONVERTIBLE CONTINENTAL KIT! V8 2SPD MANUAL TRANS ORIG. PAINT, NO BONDO RUNS AND DRIVES 100% This 1951 DeSoto S-15 Convertible was recently purchased from an estate sale where it had been in a garage since 1995! I've been around old cars and cant find any evidence of bondo or paint work. The origional paint is thin in areas and shows wear but it's origional! The continental kit shows paint work and is the only area on the car that needs attention to the paint. There was slight surface rust that has been primered (see photos). The undercarriage is clean with no rust! floors are all solid along with the trunk. Since the last owner had passed I was unable to find out the history of the car. I beleive the engine is not origional since it's a spitfire v8 and they didn't come out untill 1955. Also the car is a standard 2spd on the floor which looks orig but they only had 3spd on the tree or automatic avail. in 1951? The car is equipped with power assist steering and power top (there is no power to the switch so I've been using the top manually). The top is in excellent condtion with no tears or rips and I also have the boot. Driver side windshield has a chip the size of a dime. Every light works on the car including all the dash lights! All the gauges work and are accurate. The interior also appears to be origional and has some seam seperation and wear in the carpet but still shows well. Also included are fender skirts which are currently not on the car. I've spent alot of time going over this car and there is no rust under the hood, undercarriage or anywhere. This is a great car to take to shows as is or restore to make it 100%. The chrome is a good driver quality. There is one chrome peice on the passenger side window that should be rechromed. Clear NJ title. I gurantee you will not be disappointed when you see the car! Please ask questions before bidding. I want everyone to know everything I know about the car. I took the car over to a local shop and had it put on a lift to take pictures. The car is solid but when it was in the air I noticed they had cut the cross member to run the exhaust please see pictures. Also I did notice that the power steering has a leak in the hose very minor and I have an extra hose. Please also understand this car has been in storage since 1995 and still should be gone over. In the last week I've drove the about about 40 total miles with no problems! I will also be lowering the reserve! and the buy it now price!
