Vehicle Detail

Offered for auction is a unique 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS Clone which has been in dry storage since 1983. This all black, rustfree Camaro was built in the late 1970s as a show car. It was a very successful and consistent winner at area and regional car shows. The deep black lacquer paint job incorporated the "monochromatic" paint scheme, which entailed "blacking out: all chrome, including bumpers. and painting all trim body color. This concept took off shortly after this car was shown and was quite common there after. The paint, to this day, still looks good with high gloss and consistent color. The Camaro still has the original passenger compartment and trunk floors that it was born with and they are rust free. When acquired, one of the quarter panels was damaged. During the restoration, both quarter panels were replaced with original GM panels, not after market skins. When built, "tubing" of wheel houses had not yet become common. Inorder to stuff large tires in the rear wheel wells, the fender lips were folded back and remain that way. A Z-28 grille and chin spoiler, with driving lights were added in addition to hide-away headlight. Included with the vehicle is another complete set of hide-aways, with all necessary component, The Camaro is powered by a mild 350 V-8 and driven by a "Turbo 400" with a B&M Ratchet shifter. The car was removed from storage this past January and made road worthy again. After 27 idle years the entire fuel system was removed, cleaned and or replaced. All four brakes and all brake lines were replaced along with the master cyclinder. A new starter was also installed. The car runs and drives nicely and is ready for enjoyment. I am listing this for a friend, if you have any questions feel free to call Bill, during normal business hours at 1-815-838-1411. We encourage any bidders or interested parties to come out and see this vehicle first hand. You will not be disappointed. The car is located on Lockport, Illinois, which is suburb of Chicago.
