Vehicle Detail
1983 Fiat Spyder A car that you will absolutely enjoy! A classic Italian sports car. I have owned this terrific car for 8 years and the previous owner had it for 19 years. The car has always been garaged and is in very good shape. Engine – 4 cylinder standard Spyder engine (You don’t want turbo) Fuel injected – Works great (Prior to 1980, Fiats had a carburetor – I had a 1979 with a lot of carburetor trouble) Engine condition – Very good and strong Distributor – Just replaced some parts inside of the distributor and the vacuum advance Exhaust – the car passed the state emissions test in October 2009, but some portion of the exhaust system needs replacing Brakes – No known problems Lights and electrical – No known problems Top – Excellent condition (Car is always garaged and not driven in bad weather) Tires – Michelin, good condition Battery – 1 year old Radio – The radio does not work and needs to be replaced. There is a 10 disc CD player in the trunk that works with a functioning radio. Dashboard – Excellent condition Transmission – 5 speed – No known problems Clutch – No known problems Air conditioning – Installed but not working Fuel pump – Replaced within recent 1,000 miles Ignition – Replaced within recent 1,000 miles Power windows – work Chrome – Very good condition Seatbelts – they work, but a mouse chewed on a portion during the winter Leather seats – Re-upholstered and in very good condition Carpet – Very good condition Carpeted Floormats – Excellent Paint – Good condition with a few scratches, one blister that has not expanded in 8 years Gas tank - Recently replaced Why is this car special? In 1983, Pininfarina bought the right to build the Fiat Spyder and upgraded the interior and overall craftsmanship in manufacturing the car. The 1983 – 1985 models were truly Fiat – Pininfarina automobiles and the best Spyders made. This car has been a daily driver – that is why it has 150,000 miles. If you see a low mileage car that is 25 years old and they tell you that it is a daily driver – they are lying – do the math. A 25 year old car with 150,000 miles has an average use of 6,000 miles per year. These engines are built to go over 200,000 miles – ask the people who race them. e-mail me with questions
