Vehicle Detail

Olde Blu is a purebred 1960 Ford F 350 pick-up truck. He has lived in the barn (protected from the elements) on this same farm outside Boulder, CO (no road salt, so no rust anywhere) for all 50 years of his life! The truck is pristine! Aside from a series of small "door dings" along the rear quarter panels from light farm use over the years, it's in mint condition. The interior is without a blemish. It starts right up every time no matter what the outside temperature. If you want a mint condition Ford 150, 250 or 350 truck from 1959, 1960, 1961 or 1962, you won't find a better one and it only has 100,000 miles on it. The surprising bonus, no-one has every smoked in it (smoke-free), so the only scent is that classic old truck smell. The truck is sold with the original leather key chain and keys issued by the dealer in 1960. See photos. This is a gem that's hard for me to part with...but it's time for Olde Blu to finally move on to a new home. I SET THE MINIMUM AT A BIT LESS THAN 50% OF THE BLUE BOOK VALUE. Bid early. Bid often! On May-18-10 at 10:01:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I was asked a few questions that I thought all buyers might be interested in knowing the answers to...so here some more information: Engine: V8 4.8L 292 cid, gas Transmission: M/4 speedWhen I purchased my farm property four years ago, this truck was in the barn...so I bought it as well. So, I'm the second owner...and have driven it less than 500 miles. Since the truck runs and drives perfectly, I haven't needed to do any repairs beyond some bolt tightening and shock replacement that are depicted on the inspection report completed by the mechanic when I purchased the truck. 1. Original clutch: I don't know, but it sure works perfectly. 2. Does engine use or leak oil: When I purchase it, there was a very slow oil leak. Mechanic's report (see photo or request email of scan) said it was coming from the oil filter can and he fixed that by converting the can to a spin-on oil filter. It does not burn any oil! 3. Rebuilt engine: I don't know. 4. Picture of body and tailgate...I'll add those to the listing this morning. 5. Does the original radio work: I asked the original owner that same question and he said, "I don't know, I've never turned it on." However, when I turn it on, I don't get anything. So, my answer is "no, it doesn't seem to work." 6. How old is the paint: The original owner had it repainted before I came along, so my guess is about 6 years. 7. Photo of the data plate in glove box: I've posted a photo. 8. The undercarriage is completely rust-free! Just crawled under it for a photo and also notice it has an entirely new muffler system from original owner. 9. I did replace the shocks as suggested in the report and the mechanic told me he put a new starter in it and did a carburetor overhaul in '04. If you'd like to speak with the automotive shop who maintained the vehicle for the original owner (and now, me)...please call J & S Automotive: 303-530-1455. Says on the latest oil change bill that Dawna Kowalski was the "service writer" but when I called over, the guy who answered the phone was able to pull up the history on the computer, no problem, by the last repair order #46689 and/or my last name: Kennedy. My email is aaron@ValmontFarms.com. On May-18-10 at 14:32:39 PDT, seller added the following information: SEE MORE PHOTOS AT www.FlapjackFarm.comIf there are other photos you'd like, please request and I'll add them to the site. On May-20-10 at 11:19:44 PDT, seller added the following information: JUST ADDED 12 MORE PHOTOS TO www.FlapjackFarm.com (Thursday) There are now 24 photos there...to answer a few questions regarding: Original engine...it all appears to be original equipment under the hood.Any rust?...NO! Look at wheel well photos and under the hood/headwall...It's all rust-free...just a bit of dust from 50 years.Air Fan System?...I took photos of the fan knobs so you can see what it has.Tires are 17" One knowledgeable and friendly bidder has decoded the Data Plate for us: Here's what he learned and shared about this vehicle: 6th character of VIN "K" = Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant Color "F" = Sky Mist Blue M30J-1226 Date "05K = Date of Manufacture: Oct 05 1959 Axle "05" = 4.86 ratio (!) open differential DS0 "0128" = "Domestic Special Order" (special equipment or combination of RPOs) Transmission "F" = Warner T98A four speed, 6.398 to one ratio (granny) 4 character of VIN "C" = 292 V8 Medium Duty 2 barrel The truck has a 9800 GVW and 130 inch wheel base and the net horsepower of the MD 292 is 145 horsepower at 3800RPM. It is very unusual to see a 60 F series in that condition--F350s especially!!Most were worked to death . And especially that factory radio! Many dashs were cut to install a modern radio. I bet that the original owner was a character-to keep a truck in that condition for almost fifty years!! On May-26-10 at 11:21:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Another dozen new photos...now 36 images are up on FlapjackFarm.com and including these on ebay's site, that's 60 total images of this lovely 50 year-old truck! These latest images show the bed deck and tires...in response to a bidder's question. The bed of this truck is huge! 9 feet by 6 feet (above the hubs) and 49" between the hubs. So you can easily fit 4' by 8' sheets of plywood or whatever in the back. Bidding ends early Thursday...so it's now or never.
