RELISTING DUE TO DEADBEAT WINNING BIDDER!!!! You are reviewing my 1972-BMW 3.0csi. I have owned this car since 1992 and thought it was the one car I would never sell. But, family time requirements and a relocation have convinced me that the coupe needs to get a new loving owner. I have owned a few coupes and considered purchasing many and I consider mine a very nice example of these beautiful cars. In the 18 years that I have owned the car it has never been outside in even rain and never been left out overnight. It has always been kept in a heated facility when not being used. We have moved and the car is at my old residence and it must be moved by May 1st. Enough of the stories. The car is a euro model that was brought to the states in the late 1970's. For some reason it was titled as a 1974, but BMW in Germany advised me that it was a 1972 production model. The car was in very nice condition when I bought it and I enjoyed it for 8-10 years pretty much as I purchased it. around 2000, I decided to have the car painted all over in the original Baikal blue. Due to the clouds here in Indiana the past few weeks it is hard to get really bright pics that show the nice blue color, but hopefully the pics give some idea of the color and nice appearance of the paint. Around the same time I had new exhaust put on the car and just a few other items fixed/corrected. The paint came out so nice that a few years later I was dissatisfied with the interior..it was tan with beige inserts. I had the front and rear seats redone and it involved replacing the cloth with a very high grade leather look vinyl. The seats are absolutely beautiful and appear new today. At the same time I had the wood pieces on the door panels re-veneered.. Again, they appear as they did 5 years ago. The carpet and headliner are original and in excellent condition. The interior of this car is simply beautiful. In the past few years I have just tried to replace items when I came across nicer ones either used or OEM[new hood grilles, excellent used kidney grille, nice used rocker panel covers, rear light lenses etc] Mechanically, the car really needs nothing that I am aware of. In preparation to sell the car I had the plugs replaced, the brakes and exhaust checked, and the oil and antifreeze changed. The brake calipers were new in 2007[I think} and one of them was sticking a bit when I had it checked. I have driven it a little bit this week and it has not given me a problem. The tires are correct for the car and are Goodyears with less than 1000 miles of wear. The car is a non-air conditioning car with no sunroof and no radio. At some point someone had installed a radio, but it was not present when I bought the car It is euro all the way with few of the frills that we Americans liked to order. I must alert potential buyers that the car needs to a new turn signal flasher and some fuses checked out. I just this week bought a new dimmer switch/stalk[nearly $300] for the car because the old one just disintegrated..it will need to be installed by the new owner. The car had a crack in the windshield when I bought it in 1992. It still does! Even though the crack is out of the line of vision, I purchased a used windshield a few weeks ago that goes with the car. The electrical issues I mention in no way impacts the mechanical condition of the car, but they do need to be figured out by someone with knowledge of electrical systems. I believe it might be as simple as the contact points for the fuses, but I just am not sure. Regardless, I believe it is a question of labor costs not a bunch of parts to buy. Actually everything worked fine until I started trying to figure out the dimmer switch issue As for the big RUST question on this car, I am not foolish enough to say that the car has or has had no rust. When I had the car painted 10 years ago, the body shop checked it over carefully and repaired a small hole in the spare tire well and small holes behind each of the front wheels. In all cases new sheet metal was put in where the rust was found. There was none at all in the shock towers[front or back] They also advised me to be aware of some softness in the rear passenger seat compartment on the driver's side around the drain plug. They sanded it and treated it then and I see no deterioration since I have taken probably 100 pics of the car, but can list only 24 on this auction. I am listing the pics that I believe will be of the most interest to prospective buyers. I will attempt to provide any pics requested to help bidders decide if they are serious about the car. I need to sell the car and want the new owner to enjoy it as I have. It is not perfect, but it has very few drawbacks for a nearly 40 year old coupe that has not undergone an complete restoration. I don't know exactly what the car might be worth so I am listing it with a modest opening bid requirement and a reasonable reserve. There is a BUY it NOW listed, but I will also entertain any serious offers to end the auction early. If you want to discuss the car on the telephone, just send me your number and I will call I will accept a deposit thru Paypal, but I would prefer a wire transfer to avoid fees. The balance must be paid by bank wire transfer[preferred] or bank Cashier's Check via overnight delivery within the stated time frame. The car and title will not be released until the Cashier's Check clears my bank. Of course the car is being sold as is and no warranty is stated or implied. Further the car is being offered for sale on other venues and this auction could end at any time PLEASE, PLEASE do not bid on this listing if you do not have the funds available to conclude the transaction
