Vehicle Detail

69 Shortbed, it's got a rebuilt smallblock with headers, Edelbrock Performer Carb and Edelbrock Manifold, HEI ignition with Accel wires. It starts on 1st attempt, just one pump of the gas pedal, the electric choke works great, and the truck purrs. I am amazed at the power and acceleration. It is very quick and responsive at all speeds. The front brakes were converted to Discs, the kit was from Early Classics in Fresno. This stops as well as it drives, very strong braking. The brakes are power, as is the steering. Burns no oil or no smoke from exhaust. The exhaust system is all new, with crossover and flowmasters (no real loud, but throaty), and it extends all the way to the rear. The truck was originally purchased in North Carolina, it is an excellent above average driver, and certainly one that should be preserved or restored to better than new. It's quite obvious it was never worked hard, and there are no signs of previous accidents. I have the original dealer paperwork for drive test and the protectoplate, envelope, handbook, etc. There is some paperwork history also, the previous owner's name and number will be provided to the winning bidder, he's a collector and regrets parting with it. It has less than 93,000 original miles, it is currently Titled in Virginia. The title is clear, and states the original miles. This is not a rat rod truck or some hacked example ! The original AM-FM radio is in place and works. All gauges, speedo, etc work. As do the signals, lights, horn and wipers. The original steering wheel was replaced with a later model Camaro wheel. The truck is 6 bolt wheels with Blazer rallys, the BFG tires have some life left, but will need replacing soon. If you need to know mre, just email me. The title is with the truck in California, my nephew can meet you if you pick it up. or help with meeting your transporter, no problem. Shipping costs are the buyers expense. It cost me 850 last year to get it to California from the Washington DC area, rates vary between shipping companies, esp. if you want certain dates and delivery conditions. I live in Huntington Beach CA, but now working in Virginia. I purchased this last year to enjoy at car shows and as a hobby, but after a month or so, I shipped it to California to be garaged, I didn't want it to be exposed to the Winter weather here. My nephew can show the truck to local bidders in So Cal if need be. 12 bolt rear, no whine or grinding, just smooth as it should be, the transmission is a turbo 400, also operates, shifts smooth, no clunks, no whines, no problems. The u-joints, the front end components, shocks, all up to par. You can see how straight it is in the photos, there is no wax on the truck, a good detailing and it will be glowing. Over the years, there has been some areas of paint touch up, the roof (white) seems to be the most recent, but I would say about 75% of it is original paint. There is no rust thru, with the exception of one small hole in the driver's rocker panel (quite common), and the passenger rocker has a few dents at the bottom. I purchased new rockers to be installed, but I never got it into the shop. The repro panels are included in the auction. I expected my work to return to the West Coast (I work with passenger railcars), but that doesn't seem to be happening soon, so I need to sell this gem. I already have a 71 stepside almost completed, a 68 mustang close to finished, and I am unable to find the time or money to take this one to show quality. So I decided to pass it on to the next collector.Feel free to email any questions. Thanks ! There is no reserve on this auction. On May-07-10 at 21:22:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Well, it's getting closer to the end of this auction, and I'm getting a lot of questions, I guess maybe it'll be best to say a little more for those of you who are serious. I'll try to address some of the same questions I've been asked. For starters: This is a really clean truck that saw little if any use over the past ten years. It has been in possession of mature, collector-type guys who each added a few new parts. It is not something that you will need to hide from your wife or girlfriend, it gets thumbs up from people everywhere. You can park it in front of your home (if you want people leaving notes on it, or knocking on the door asking if it's for sale0. Does it look in everyway just like the ones that sell or are offered at 22K ? No, of course not, HOWEVER, if you want one that does.....this is certainly the truck to start with ! It has History, documented ownership and very, very low mileage. Like about 2200 mile per year ? You brother-in-law, or car crazy guys...will they say ya paid too much ? Nah, or maybe, until they see it, drive, it, get used to you making a good decision. I got sidetracked by this one last year. I'm building a 71 step sided, with all the correct suspension parts, crate motor, 9" Ford rear, new paint and body panels, etc. Then I saw this one...fleetsided, the extra trim, History and my head went into the clouds. It's much better than the truck I started with, has the potiental to be a big dollar truck (with some investment) and I had to have it. But what I don't have is the time to do it, and with a rental garage and two other projects, I just can't do another frame-off. Too busy, too far from home. I do not know the exact miles since rebuild, but as I said earlier, it is unreal responsive, clean, and no disapointment. The exact details are available from the previous collector, I will provide that information to the winning bidder. I do have a bit of recpts, such as the brake conversion, some for tires, some for oil changes and regular service. These all indicate the mileage at the time of service, etc. A real big plus when you get ready to sell it. (93 original miles on a 40+ year old truck is kinda hard to believe, isn't it ?) Again, it is the coolest truck in town to use for those Saturday chores and runs to the Home Depot. Is it as nice as the 22K one with the stainless gas tank in the back and the bed wood floor that looks better than a Martin Guitar. No But thow a few grand at at, and it could be, and if that's your thing...it should be. Just please don't expect a 50K restoration with the baddest radio and drives like your 07 Tundra. Just a super nice example of a 41 year old truck that takes no prisoners at red lights. Yes, it will light up a tire is requested, no problem ! Let's see, what's it need right now ? Personally, I would put modern headlights in it. The lights of 40 years ago are not whaat most of us are now accoustomed to. If you want to win paint contests, newer chemistry and coatings are far superior to those 40 years ago, but as I mentioned, a whole lota this truck is original paint. To me, that's a real big plus. Thanks for your interest and good luck.
