Vehicle Detail

Clean, strong running Range Rover County Classic SWB. If you are reading this, you are probably a Land Rover fan like me. I've had them all - from Series trucks, to P38s. I have a soft spot for the old, hand-built Classics and can never pass up a good one. This Classic is my wife's daily driver (she's responsible for the stickers) but we've got a new vehicle on the way so this toy needs to find a new home. I've also got a '73 Mercedes on ebay right now (my toy) and it is looking for a new home also. Too many cars... You'll look for a long time to find a better Classic - especially at this price. Most of the Classics out there have been trashed, turned into hunting trucks or have rusted away. Not this one. A bit over 94000 miles - not the usual 200K run-out Rover. Of the half-dozen Classics I've had, this has by far the cleanest frame/undercarriage. It has been repainted in the original Clearwater Blue Metallic in the recent past. I'd say the paint is 5 years old or so. Well done at the time - it has picked up a few nicks and dings since then. Parking lot dings and rocks are hard on these aluminum bodies. That said, it does shine nicely and the steel has no rust issues. Door jambs are good as are the window posts, door tops, etc. The 3.9 liter V8 runs strong and smooth. The SWB trucks are much more responsive than their LWB cousins - even with the later 4.2 liter motor. Trans is smooth and free of clunks. The permanent 4WD works in high and low ranges. Mechanically, it is a solid, good-running Rover that I'd drive anywhere without reservation. No dash lights on - that in itself is a rare thing. 1990 was the first year to have ABS (developed for Rover by a German company who built aircraft braking systems) and these work just fine. In fact, the self-diagnostic test runs each time you start the truck and the light goes out (test pass) when you start to drive. 1990 also predates the nightmare air suspension system. Land Rover called the coil system in this truck the "Magic Carpet Ride" and you'll see why when you drive it - even off road. The usual problem areas are shown in the photos to give you an idea of how clean the truck is. The rear hatch and tail gate are in excellent shape - no rust. The headliner is not falling down, but the sunroof needs recovering. The fabric was ripped so I removed it. The sunroof does work properly in both slide and vent modes. The rear seat leather is decent, as is the passenger side. The driver side seat base is (as usual) split along both seams. I've put a cover on it and it is serviceable. All seat power functions work as they should. All window switches work, but the passenger front is tempermental. I'll be including a full set of brand new window switches that I just got with the sale. The matching set of Continental radials are barely broken in. At least 75% tread life remains. The brakes are newer and a full lube/oil/filter was done last week. The AC blows cold and the heat works fine as well. Known faults include a missing door lock trim on the inside passenger door, missing headlamp washer/squirter, the rear wiper blade needs to be replaced, the door and dash wood are a bit cracked (the main dash wood panel has been recovered in vinyl) and the driver seat armrest is a bit funky. As mentioned earlier, there are a couple of dings on the exterior, but overall a very sharp Rover for its age. I'm happy to help with shipping and can likely arrange it for you, but the cost is up to the buyer. I'd like a $500 Paypal deposit within 24 hours of the auction end and the balance within 7 days. I can store it a couple of weeks if needed, but it must be paid in full within 7 days. Feel free to email or call with questions. Eric @ (843) 321-1648. Thanks for looking and good luck!
