Vehicle Detail
Up for sale at no reserve is my 1987 Toyota 4Runner SR5. True no reserve auction. High bidder wins (I do have the truck for sale locally, so I reserve the right to cancel the auction earlier if the truck sales locally). I have had this truck for a couple of years and have been slowly restoring it. I bought it from someone who had started the work, but never finished. Most of the interior was apart or missing when I got it. I've been putting it back together slowly while driving it on the weekends for fun. It's easily a daily driver, though I have another vehicle for work. Just been driving it on the weekends and occasional trips to the beach or mountains. I've made several long trips with it, including a 1,000+ mile round trip to S.Georgia last October. I absolutely don't want to sell this truck. I've wanted one forever and finally got it. But my daughter's growing medical bills means we have to sell most of our "toys" so we can make ends meet. I should have sold it several months back, but I've held onto it as long as possible, hoping finances would get a bit better. Not looking for sympathy here, just being honest about why I have to sell it. High bid wins it. Clear title. Now for a description. It's an 87 Toyota 4Runner SR5. It's loaded with everything. Power windows, locks, rear gate. Cruise control. I replaced the power antenna for a more permanent one. Exterior is really in pretty good condition for a 23 year old vehicle. I've repaired all rust on the body with sheet metal and fiberglass. NO BONDO. All rust on the body is gone. Garage paint job, but looks pretty good from ten feet away. I took the trim off the windshield to paint it, but haven't put it back on. I planned to take it to a glass shop and have them do it for me before money started becoming tight. I have all the trim and it's in great shape. There are nicks and small pings, but no dents. Again, NO RUST. Interior is okay, not great. The interior panels were completely shot when I got the truck. I planned to have them professionally redone, but, again, can't afford it now. Instead I've made new panels using hardboard. They're painted a close color and look okay. Look at the pictures to get a good idea of everything. Pioneer CD player works great and has a MP3/Ipod port. Speakers are hooked up and sound pretty good. Windows and locks work. Cruise works. Rear glass works at the tailgate and at the inside switch. Drivetrain is complete and works pretty good. Engine fires right up and runs great. Even with 200,000 miles. The trans shifts through the gears and doesn't slip. It does need new shift solenoids. I have some used ones that are included with it. I never got around to replacing them because I planned to do a 5-speed swap. Still, even with the shift points being a bit off, the trans runs through all the gears and goes down the road just fine as it is. 4x4 works awesome. We had a pretty heavy snow this past February and I had no problem getting around town. Let's see, what else? I think it could use a new cold start fuel injector. Idles a little rough on cold starts. But doesn't stall...and is fine after warm up. Reverse tail lights aren't working, though blinkers and stop lights work fine. Skid plate is off of it, but included. The previous owner broke the bolts off when removing it and I've gotten around to tapping and removing. Stone guard for rear wheels are missing. I've seen them on eBay from time to time. I was planning to wire indicator lights rather than replace them, so I never got around to getting any. I took the rear bumper off and removed all brackets. Was planning to put a smitty bilt bumper on it. Front bumper is custom made and is a beast! All the AC components are there and I think they all work. It needs an R12 recharge, which isn't exactly cheap. I was planning to do a r134a conversion. Belt is off right now to prevent from sucking dust into the compressor. There is a pin-hole leak at one of the clamps on the heater core hose. It really is minor. I just haven't replaced it yet. It has minimal surface rust on the frame. NO ROT! Fuel sending unit is sketchy. It reads full when the tank is full, but drops to empty after about 3/4 tank. But the fuel warning light DOES work. I just fill up and drive it until the light pops on. Average 16 MPG around town and 20 MPG on the highway. Truck has a current NC inspection. I think that's about it. What you see is what you get! It's in pretty decent shape. It would make a great restore project if someone had the interest. It can also be driven as is. I would have loved to have the truck when I was 16! Or you can buy it and use it as a climber or hunting truck. It's cheaper than a 4Wheeler, seat 5, and has heat! I'm sure I've forgotten something. For that reason you are encouraged to inspect the vehicle before placing a bid. Vehicle is available for inspection and/or test drive most any day and is strongly recommended. My failure to disclose minor issues does not constitute a reason to back out of the sale. You as the bidder are entering in a contract with me as the buyer to purchase this vehicle at auction close, should you be the high bidder. If you can't pay, don't bid! I don't have the time and can't afford to chase down people who don't pay. I'm using this money to pay my daughter's doctors, so please honor the contract. Thanks for looking.
