Vehicle Detail
Restored 1966 Buick Skylark with a 430 cubic inch from a 1968 Buick LeSabre. This is a beautiful A body car with similar lines to the 1966 Chevelle, Cutlass, and Lemans / GTO. Transmission is a 3 speed TH400. The car spent its life in Arizona and contains no rust. The car went through a frame off restoration in 2005 and all items open to moisture were replaced. The following is a partial list of the major parts but does not begin to identify all the new pieces. · Frame to body bushings (poly) · Control arm bushings, upper and lower, front and rear · Springs and shocks, all around (big block springs). · Tie rods, ball joints, sway bar, · After market rear sway bar. · Brakes, including drums, wheel cylinders, pads, and kits. · 2 1/2" Flow Master Exhaust. · Front and rear bumpers (bumper boys). · Vinyl top · Headliner, carpet, seat covers including foam. · Windshield. · Limited slip rear-end · Tilt · Console shift · Firestone Fire hawk P 235 70 R14 all-around. · All chrome is present and in good condition · 14” original rally rims are in great condition · The interior door panels are from a 67 skylark donor car. The 430 was taken down to the heads (heads were not removed). The follow items were replaced: Timing chain and gears, Water pump, fuel pump, high volume oil pump, Intake manifold gasket, oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, Internally regulated alternator, Delco Remy electronic distributor, starter, battery, radiator, wires, hoses and more. The carburetor needs to be rebuilt. The new torque converter (2500 rpm stall) acts funny the first time out of the barn but after it engages works perfectly the rest of the day. Vehicle was A/C but removed with engine change so ducts in dash are cosmetic. New heater core was installed with engine change. A Buick correct replacement AM radio was installed but not hooked up because the car has a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/MP3 player with remote control in area behind glove box cover. The single stage acrylic enamel PPG (1968 Buick color teal poly blue) is covered with two coats of clear but was never wet sanded other than the hood. The fender damage (shown in one of the photos) was the result of a loose object hitting the fender from inside the trunk. Interior looks great but would like want to get new sun visors and arm rests. The car also needs a turn signal cancel cam and neutral safety switch. These last two parts have proven hard to find. The signals do not work and the shifter needs to be put in neutral to start. This Buick drives, and runs beautifully. The lights (except signals), horn, and wipers, all work. It has a professional insurance appraisal of 16,000. It burns no oil and is strong and reliable. The prior owner invested $11,000 on the restoration and rebuild. I was lucky enough to find this a little over a year ago and I really would like to keep this car as it is in fantastic shape and has had loving care and attention to detail on the rebuild, but times are more difficult than I expected. Please, only serious bidders. If you can’t follow through, don’t bid. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car sells to a local buyer, as it will be advertised locally also. If I answer any questions please let me know. Good luck!On Apr-28-10 at 16:54:00 PDT, seller added the following information: A quick update - revision...Another ebayer let me know that the turn signal cam is available at Year One. Just went in and checked, as had been a problem to find, and they DO now carry a replacement for $29.95. My thanks to Al for the heads up...
