For sale, a 56 Mercury Monterey 4 door hardtop, no post. Very clean car, interior was re-done apprx 2 years ago to include the trunk. Car has factory a/c (needs some freon), A/C is kind of unique in that the unit is in the trunk, it blows the air up into the headliner (the vents are in the roof). power steering, power brakes. 312 Y-block motor with 2 speed Merc-O-matic transmission and 255 gears. Not very powerful from a dead stop due to the tall gears and heavy weight but makes for nice highway cruising. Will do 70 on the freeway no problem, and runs about 170-180 temp. Car has all the chrome and trim pieces which are very hard to find and expensive if you've ever tried to find them. Glass is also is in very good condition, no chips or cracks. Another very expensive item to replace. The car has also been detailed with in the past month.. A/C works, but will need some freon, I do not know if it has been converted to newer system or if it needs the old style juice, but all the components work. I put in a new battery and rebuilt the generator. car probably needs a little cleanout of the carb, doesn't look like it has been addressed for some time. I put a vacuum guage on it and it has plenty of vacuum. There is a small spot of rust on one of the lower doors, and some paint missing around the side mirror, shown in pictures.
