Up for sale is a nice and clean 2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS Wagon with 134 000 miles on it. It is loaded with many options and very clean from both inside and outside. This car is accident-free. Only the paint on the left of the front bumper is slightly damaged. The engine is 4-cylinder gasoline 1.8 Turbo with 170 hp (code AWM). The transmission is 5-speed tiptronic, works smoothly. I am listing the car for my friend who has owned it for the last 1.5 years and has taken well care of it. He has had no problems with it. The car was running flawlessly until December '09 and last time it was driven from Boston, MA to Key West, FL. Upon arrival in Key West, there was a deep puddle on the road, and the worst happened. The engine stopped. The motor has caught water damage. Attempts to crank the engine later resulted in first connecting rod to break the engine block and pop out. The engine is now locked and does not crank over by the starter. If you lift the car and look at the engine from the bottom, you will see a hole in the block made by the connecting rod. The engine was not attempted to repair. Consider this nice and car for engine replacement, for engine repair or for parts. The car is thereby sold AS IS.
