This vehicle was originally titled to North Carolina then was purchased by a gentleman in Augusta Maine to commemorate his wifes first car, and the one they did their first date in. I purchased the car from them in 2003 as the third owner of the car and drove it back here to Minnesota without any problem. The mileage at 83,500 miles is original. The vehicle was undercoated when new, and an inspection of the undercarriage indicates no rust infiltration at all. The mechanicals are in good working order. The power roof works flawlessly as well......When I say its in like new condition, Im not embellishing anything at all.........the only thing that was necessary in bringing this gem to its like new condition, was a re-paint of the original white paint in 2003 just after I purchased it. At the time I purchased it, there were 78,500 original miles on the car. Since that time, the car has been stored winters and driven now and then as a summer car. The upholstery is in great condition and is original.....see pictures!! This is truly an incredible car given the low miles and the overall condition. As a bit of history, it is my understanding that there was only one other car in history that had the transaxle drive train (transmission on the rear axle) and that was the 63 corvette. The body of this car was the prototype that was used in the very first GTO in 1964, which by the way was a Pontiac LeMans with the "GT option"......cost $285 and hence became known as the "GTO"..... Im selling the car because to make room for a new project, whatever that may be. If youve been looking for a great auto investment, theres now question that the numbers and condition of this car, make it a great investment, as well as a great car to go cruising in on a sunny day!! One thing further........theres no airconditioning.........unless of course you want to drop the top and feel that wind sliding over the hair on your head! Questions?
