Hello ebayers here is a 1986 vw cabriolet convertible I have for sale.This will be fast and easy.I just got this car from my friend who has not used it much the last 3 years he bought it in 2004 to drive back and forth to Disney were still works to save some money on gas.Got spoiled when he bought him self a new truck and set this little guy on the side of the house,would start it every so often till he had to put a new battery in it a year ago and was getting harder and harder to start.heres where I come in.Got the car of course the thing would not start because of how bad the fuel was.heres what ive done in the last 4 weeks.I pulled the fuel pump from in the tank,cleaned and tested it replaced the fuel strainer and hose,its working good,I pulled the external fuel pump again cleaned and tested it replaced some small lines and its working good,took the fuel distributor of and cleaned it free of all varnish and buildup its had from sitting,replaced the fuel filter it was completely pluged up.put new plugs in it,drained the fuel tank of the bad stuff and added 5 gallons of fuel with some chemtool fuel system cleaner and fuel stabilizer,Heres the good the car it self starts up and idles great,it does have some hesitation as you rev it up but i'm sure its still a little dirty here and there.I've been told this year has mechanical injectors that may take a little bit of time to be clog free,when we first started a week ago to get it crank it would spit and spuder and barely idle,now it idles very good and like i said it hesitates as you rev it up,ive drove it in the neigboor hood and got it in all gears and up to 35 mph.im very positive the cleaner is doing good and will take it some time to be fully up to date,the rest of the things ive noticed are the power steering system has a leak i think its a hose,the ac system is all there but currenly does not blow cold,the brakes are mushi mid to low pedal possibly a flush can help but not sure.over all the exterior of the car is in good shape,with only 3 rust spots one on the front window trim the other 2 are on the deck lid.see pics.the interior is in fair condition it will need some tlc to be perfect.the top is still plyable but have not tried to lower it,it will need tires as these have been on there some time and are dry rotted.so i would say the car needs to be trailered to make it home safe.we can consider it a project but its a great start for someone who wants a good little car as a foundation.ask all and any questions please do not assume anything what you see is what you get,the car has a clean open florida tittle for the new owner and is SOLD AS IS. serious bidders please.please do not bid if you do not intend to buy.a non-refundable deposit of 150.00 is needed after auction end the rest of the balance is due in cash at time of pickup.again ask any and all questions.please and thanks for looking.On Apr-14-10 at 06:14:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello ebayers just wanted to clarity something about the miles,the carfax report shows it sometime in 1998 someone reported 140000,my friend whos name is still on the tittle bought the car on 3/19/2004 with 97000 hes had it in his ownership for the last 6 years and has had no problems with the speedometer/odometer its currently all working.So just because of where or how the descrepency may have occured i would consider original mialege to be unknown .thanks for your continued interest.On Apr-14-10 at 17:33:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello everyone its 4/14/2010 8:29pm just got done paying with the car a little more,the more we let it run here in the driveway the better i think its getting i drove it around the neighborhood today and i can see the improvement im sure by the time the auction is over we should be able to pump some more fresh fuel in it and keep running it to try to clean it out completely .ill keep updating as we go forward with it.thanks.
