Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1990 Caprice Classic sedan. My dad bought the car in late 1991 from the Chevrolet dealer where I used to work, was originally for the 1st year a salesman's car that was returned at lease end. From that time until 2003, the car spent most winters in Florida as my dad is retired. I bought the car from him in August of 2003 and since then it was garage kept until this past fall in a climate-controlled enviroment. I have driven the car sparingly since 2003 from May to October at which time it is stored until the next spring. The car has seen little, if any salt in its life. I now do not have enough space to continue to store it inside because of other classics I have bought. This is the 1st winter it sat outside under a cover, which to me is completely unacceptable. No, more like nails on a chalkboard. Seriously folks I can't stand to watch it - oh the humanity of it... She has to go to a good home where she'll be loved like she deserves to be. The car has a 305 V8, 200R4 4 speed auto trans which is original and never has been rebuilt. It runs excellent, uses no oil and leaves no oil on the driveway. I replaced the radiator and all coolant hoses in 2007, flushed the cooling system and tuned it up. It does have the sport suspension package which is P225/70/R15 series tires, along with a rear end swaybar which is fairly unusual option for a civilian Caprice. The car handles great and steers great. I did find a worn outer tie rod last summer, had the suspension completely inspected, the tie rod replaced and the front end aligned. The tires are all-season radials bought in 2006, show pleanty of tread and are not dry-rotted. The interior features factory AM-FM with cassette, tilt steering, cruise control, power windows/locks, delay/pulse wipers, overhead map lights, split 60/40 front bench and BOTH front seats have recliners and are 6-way power adjustable. AC has never been serviced and was still ice-cold last summer when I drove it last. I changed the rear-end fluid and trans fluid as I do every 2 years or so last summer and no issues were found. This car runs, handles and drives like new. There are a set of "GM" floor mats in the trunk (see pic) they came with the car and are very nice, my dad never used them and I chose not to use them either because I did not want to get them dirty. I instead I use the deep-dish rubberized water-holding floor mats you see in the pictures. The tan carpet in the trunk hides nothing, my dad had it in there the day he bought it to protect the carpet and I have left it in place. I did install a trailer hitch in 2006 on the back of the car, with a 1-1/4" receiver - I only use this for a small trailer to take my riding garden tractor to my dad's to mow his lawn as he cannot do it himself. Nothing heavy has ever been hauled with the car. There is a anti-theft "column lock" that comes with the car which prevents the steering column or ignition lock from being punched. With as much interest I get from on-lookers driving this classic, I would suggest you continue to use if it you park it in public. The interior is very nice, plush fabric seats in excellent condition - no rips, tears, stains, etc. or cracks in dash or door panels. My dad was a smoker, in the picture of the drivers door panel above the adjuster for the drivers side mirror there are a few minor 'divots' from hot ashes in the plush door panel, but nothing to write home about. I replaced the carpet when I got the car in 2003 because my dad has a prostetic device for his right foot which is larger than the average shoe and wore a hole in the carpet by the accelerator pedal. No squeaks or wind leaks to report when driven, all weather seals/glass seals in good shape. The body is very clean for a car of this age, very little undercarriage rust, no rust-out in trunk or wheel wells and the door pinch welds are in good shape, with exception of the right rear passenger door - of which I just noticed today there is some surface rust that should be cleaned up. The right rear quarter has "grandpaw" damage due to a handle bar for a lawn mower my dad cared not to notice was in the way when he backed out of the garage well over 15 years ago. Subsequently the same incident left some scratches in the clear coat on the right front fender as seen in the other picture. The paint is original, in fair condition, will take a wax and look nice. The paint on the hood of the car is becoming checked, typical for older laquer. The wheel well lips in the rear quarters were touched up as well as the lower drivers door/front passenger door for stone chips about 3 years ago. The driver side headlight does have a stone briuse in it, but no water in the lens has been noted, been that way for many years now. The parking brake does not work. In short, she's a fine car and needs a fine new home. She'd make great reliable transportation, but I hope she'd be a collector to someone. A quality piece of AMERICAN MADE iron still going 20 years after she was built! Mechanically in excellent shape, I wouldn't hesitate to take her anywhere and I have taken her on many summer excursions thoughout the Midwest. She averages about 20.5 MPG on the highway, 16 in the city with all the comfort of your living room couch. Transportation is your responsibility. I will work with your hauler if you are not local to me for pickup. A $500 dollar deposit is required by PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Remainer by certified check, money order or wire transfer within 7 days. NOTE: ALL FUNDS MUST CLEAR MY AND **YOUR** BANK BEFORE TITLE IS SURRENDERED. Please read that again to understand it. Sorry but PC generated bogus checks have made this necessary. I will FedEx the title once the check is proven to be valid and good. This may take up to 2 weeks. Once check is cleared and I have surrendered title, you must pick car up within 15 days. No warranties are expressed or implied. Sorry no sales outside the 50 United States of America I don't have any interest in dealing with customs and the headaches that come with it. SCAM ARTISTS: No, I will NOT accept the check you have so graciously issued from the bank of Nicaragua for $1,000 dollars over the amount of the end auction price. Go bother someone who was born yesterday and leave me out of it - thanks. There is no 'buy it now' because of the problems associated with non-paying bidders ending the auction early for everyone. I will not end the auction early either. If you are serious and want the car, please bid accordingly. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! On Apr-18-10 at 05:05:51 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: 4/18/2010: Drove car first time since stored last August. Car started right up, ran great and drove it about 10 Miles. Ready to go!On Apr-18-10 at 05:12:54 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 4/18/2010: Cleaned out trunk and removed the carpet reminant. Vacuumed car and trunk. As I stated before, no rips stains or marks under carpet reminant in trunk. Looks like new and just as nice as the interior. Also cleaned the factor mats pictured in the trunk and the light dirt/dust on them car right out. As an FYI, the oil and filter was changed as I always do before storing the car for the winter so it's good to go too. Car is Ready to go to the winning bidder! Good luck and happy bidding! On Apr-19-10 at 13:58:42 PDT, seller added the following information: 4/19/2010 UPDATE: That was so fun I went and drove it again! This time highway driving, ran good but does have the radial flat-spot jitter I mentioned above because 10 months out of the year the car sits. Tires will need a balance and to be driven - This is a yearly ritual. WIN it before I change my mind! Good luck everyone!
