ORIGINAL PAINT RUST FREE CLASSIC WESTFALIA CAMPER VAN NO RESERVE AUCTION TOP BIDDER WILL OWN IT!High Bidder = NEW OWNER!! Auction ENDS February 11, 2019 at 7:00 PM PST If you are interested in ending the auction early and buying the vehicle right now, please call me with an offer to discuss. Thank you, Paul (541) 974-5346 Here is a great opportunity for someone to buy my super solid, rust free, classic Westfalia camper van I call "Hans". "Hans" is a really cool original full kitchen vintage camper van that is laid out very nice and will make someone a wonderful weekend camping rig or road trip traveler. My friend Bobby owned this Westfalia for a long time. I'm not sure if he was the original owner or if he bought it used years ago. He enjoyed taking Hans on fishing trips to the local rivers and lakes in the 90's. This is a really nice setup for an outdoorsman in the Pacific Northwest. He would go up to the fishing hole the night before, set up camp (2 minute job in this) and could have his pole in the water just before dawn. There might not be a better feeling than being at the water bright and early before the sun comes up. The best part is rolling out of your bed in the van to walk to the lake after pouring your fresh brewed morning coffee. I absolutely love the convenience of this camper van. It is surprising how much space there is for storage, sleeping, and the little kitchen area is awesome. One of my best camping trips I remember was the time that we took it to Clear Lake in Central Oregon back in 1997. For such a small vehicle, it is amazing how much space we had. We did all of our cooking, camping, and drinking from inside. I took the top bed and had lots of comfortable space to myself. Bobby had the "downstairs" to himself with the rear seat folded out for his bed. We cooked breakfast on the stove top before we got the early morning fish on. The refrigerator was really nice to have for meats and other perishables. The next morning, we woke up to snow. Thankfully, Bobby had packed tire chains. Obviously, we installed the chains wrong because on the way home they came loose causing the paint to come off the outer wheel wells and minor damage to the right side shown in the photos. In the photos you can see surface rust there now. That is the cosmetic damage on the inner wheel wells you will notice in the pictures. Purely cosmetic, but still a fond, funny, memory from over 20 years ago. In 2001 Bobby put Hans in storage and has sat there untouched for 18 years. Last summer, I was finally able to convince Bobby to sell Hans to me. Being stored inside did a lot to preserve the paint from the elements and prevented the interior from sun fading. The paint is all original to the best of my knowledge and the body is really nice, in my opinion. Remember, a vehicle is only original once! There is some thin areas in the paint (shown in pics) and minor damage visible on the sliding door/passenger side. (see pics) You will also notice the area around the wheel wells where there is some bare spots, but notice how solid and rust free everything is. The body is in exceptional condition and really straight. I am amazed how straight and very few dings and chips there are. (lots of close up photographs reflect the condition) The fiberglass on the top has NO CRACKS anywhere! That is pretty dang rare on a vintage classic Westy!! The canvas on the pop up does show its age and is moth eaten from sitting all these years. I have priced replacement canvas and was pleasantly surprised how simple and inexpensive it is to replace. The seals on the top need replaced. (also cheap fix) The van has not been started or driven on the road for 18 years, so I am selling it disclosed as a non runner. It ran when Bobby parked it but it would need to be sorted out prior to use. Everything mechanically appears to be there, but I did notice some wires off of the engine, not sure why. I have never hooked power to diagnose anything, but the motor turns over by hand. The tires are mismatched, old and cracking. All of the glass is in great shape, free from any major cracks or splits. This is an open canvas to set up to your specific needs and wants! Get the diesel running? Subaru swap? The options are endless and truly only limited by one's imagination. One of the things that I love about the Westfalia van and using it for camping is that you can set up just about anywhere. If you like campgrounds, you can opt for hookups or a tent site and boondock camp. There is never a worry with the campsite size and if your 40' 5th wheel and pickup can fit. I love the simplicity that allows a person to go more places more often. The smaller van is also more maneuverable getting there and a lot friendlier on fuel than these over grown "glamping" setups that some use. More convenient, more money saved, able to get away more often, more fun, WIN WIN! This is a highly optioned Westfalia camper van. It has the bed on top in the pop up and the rear seat folds into a bed as well. This sleeps 4 quite comfortably. It has the complete kitchen including a sink, refrigerator, and stove that all look great. The cook top has the lid that lifts for use and closes for additional counter space when not in use. Kitchen area is very complete and looks great! All of these appliances worked when it was parked, but would need to be sorted out before use. The front seats swivel to face the rear to conveniently be a part of the group when entertaining or dining inside. There is a swing out table that makes a great spot for having a glass of wine or dining. The table is in very nice original condition and shows very well. This is a great feature, there when you want it, but conveniently swings to store out of the way when not in use. The interior panels look nice and vintage. The upholstery on all of the seats are in original condition. ( see pics below) The floors are very clean and solid under the carpet. Sitting inside this van brings a smile to everyone's face. This Westy is just so cool and cozy inside! Most people enjoy vintage or classic vehicles. I don't know if any van has more enthusiasts than the VW. Especially the Westfalia camper van. The biggest battle most people run into is fighting a battle with rust. That may be one of the best things about this vintage van. It is a RUST FREE survivor! The door jams look super clean. The hinges are all solid and rust free. The lower panels in the front are absolutely amazing. The rear hatch, hinges, and jams are solid and rust free. The battery box area is amazing and solid. The inner fenders are solid, and only show minor surface rust on bare paint areas, but is very solid. I have had this up on the rack and was absolutely amazed. There is minor surface rust but EVERYTHING IS SOLID! Could not find a pinhole anywhere. Obviously there are nicks, dings, scratches, and imperfections as this is a classic with original paint and almost 40 years old. I have done my best to describe thoroughly, but could not possible detail each and every scratch or flaw. This van has been in Oregon most if not all of its life. We have a mild climate and do not salt our roads. This helps tremendously in preserving a classic vehicle, making Oregon classics some of the most desirable vehicles anywhere. Paul (541) 974-5346 Also worth noting, I am selling the van but will be keeping my guitar, wine, vintage TV, and boom box as they have sentimental value to me and probably would not be of value to someone else. Somebody is going to be very happy adding "Hans" to their family and hopefully will be able to share lifetime memories in this amazing VW Westfalia camper van! I want to point out how solid and rust free the quarter panel is where the paint has lifted RUST FREE CLASSIC WESTFALIA CAMPER VAN NO RESERVE AUCTION TOP BIDDER WILL OWN IT!High Bidder = NEW OWNER!!
