Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1974 Rickman Honda CR750 Chassis “Kit”. It comes with a clear Arizona title (titled as a 1974 Rickman motorcycle) in my name. I have owned and restored a number of Rickman CR’s over the years and just don’t have the time or space to finish this one. I bought this one out of Canada quite a few years ago. Most of the “hard” work has been done, but you will need to add an engine, assembly hardware, wheel axle spacers, rear shocks, wiring, instruments, etc. to complete it; nothing terribly hard, more time consuming than anything. I just don’t have the time or space to finish this one up. Note there is a Rickman Press Photo of a fully assembled CR750 shown in the ad for reference only! That is what a finished CR750 should look like when you are done. The frame and swingarm have been re-polished and re-nickel plated and look very nice. The original Rickman engine mounting plates are there but will need to be re-nickel plated. The original gas tank was resealed using a Caswell epoxy sealer kit and the tank, rear seat cowl, front fender, rear inner fender and side covers were professionally repainted (all original Rickman bodywork color matched to the original Rickman orange gelcoat) including new decals under the clearcoat. The paint is beautiful (see pics)! Note there is a hairline crack that needs repair in the right side cover where the stock Honda ones always broke – easy fix with some epoxy (see pics). There is also a correct freshly powdercoated black battery box and oil tank included. The original rear wheel was disassembled, the rim and hub polished, the spokes re-cad plated and then reassembled with new wheel bearings. Somewhere along the way, the front wheel rim and spokes disappeared, but the hub (repolished with new bearings) is there. (A new rim and spokes can easily be supplied by Buchannan’s or others.) Both footpeg/foot control assemblies look complete, but will need a little work and will need replating to make them perfect (see pics). You’ll also have to make up new linkage assemblies. Stock forks and polished triple trees are nice and straight and the mount for stock Honda instruments is there. There is some very minor pitting on the fork tubes that I would leave but you could rechrome if you wanted to. Brake calipers and discs look to be in nice condition. I would rebuild the calipers (new seals and pads) given I am pretty sure they are original. Rebuild kits are available from AP Lockheed in England along with new master cylinders. As mentioned above, you will need to supply all new assembly hardware, but it is almost all standard metric nuts and bolts which are available from your local hardware store. There are also a number of spare parts included (see pics) including an OEM chain guard (read “hens teeth”), OEM fairing mounts, a used Honda 750K headlight shell, and a set of correctly sized clip-ons. I will include a photocopied book of Rickman Assembly Instructions that includes a parts list so you can see where everything goes. Overall, this would make an exceptional restoration project. Add a donor Honda 750K engine (readily available) and you are off to the “races”. With nice Rickman CR’s selling in the high teens to high $20K’s, you have lots of room to add your touch to this build. I also have an NOS color matching Rickman Sport Touring fairing (see pics) that I will include if you use the Buy-It-Now option. Note that reproduction full café fairings are available from AirTech in Vista CA if you so desire. Please note that what you see in the pictures is only loosely assembled with old used hardware. It is NOT ready for a shipper to pick up and take as is. My strong preference is that you come and pick it up. Some wrapping and packing to protect everything in transit will be required if it needs to be shipped. If you need this done, I will pack all the body work and spare parts for an extra charge of $100 (tank, seat/cowl, side covers, rear inner fender, front fender and spare parts shown). If you use the Buy-It-Now, I will pack those pieces for free. I will facilitate shipping, but Buyer must make arrangements for pick up and pay for any shipping costs for the bike and spare parts. I WILL BE ATTENDING THE LAS VEGAS MOTORCYCLE AUCTION 1/23-1/26 AND WILL BE HAPPY TO BRING IT WITH ME AND DELIVER IT TO YOU THERE FOR FREE IF THAT IS HELPFUL. Pick up must be arranged within two weeks of the auction’s end. If you care to inspect the bike before the auction ends, send me an email to make arrangements. If you would like to discuss details, send me a note with your contact information and I will get back to you ASAP. I live near the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport and would be happy to pick you up if you would like to fly in for an inspection. The bike is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. This is a very nice example, but it is a USED motorcycle that is 45 years old and it is NOT perfect. WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES IS WHAT IS THERE AND WHAT YOU ARE BUYING – NO MORE, NO LESS. It is sold as is where is with NO warranty, NO guaranty or any other kind of ”–ty”. The motorcycle has an Arizona title in my name with no liens so no issues there. Terms: $1,000 non-refundable deposit (Paypal) within 24 hours of sale. Balance due within 7 days. Balance must be paid with certified funds (bank check), or bank wire transfer or cash (preferred). NO Paypal ON BALANCE. Bike will be released on confirmation of funds and must be picked up within two weeks of sale. Any questions, please ask BEFORE the close of the auction!
