I began this restoration in 2010 when I met Ozzie A., at Willow Springs and bought the green tank, fenders, front end, restored wheels and other precious parts and pieces. I stashed them away while I searched for the frame, motor and remaining drive train. It took four years to find the next load of goods, that's when I met Dave F., here in AZ. There I found a matching numbers frame (with original head-stock badge) and motor block. I also picked up the correct transmission and a pre-war final drive that is in the bike. Much to my surprise, most of the parts from both purchases turned out to be one year only 1951 parts. The right side hinged tool lid and fuel valve on the tank, the front engine cover sans bump at the bottom, the Mann air cleaner and many others. I finished the assembly last year after having the motor restored by Jeff Moore, the transmission by Todd Rasmussen and the final drive by Chris Betjemann, and have ridden the bike approximately 1200 miles. It rides as lovely as it looks. I have sourced as many original parts as possible and replaced all other with high quality replacements. As you can see, the bike has all new or restored parts installed making it "like new." The speedometer was not restored as it is nice original condition and is from a '54 model.
