Thank you for viewing the auction for my 2003 BMW 745 LI, As the listing states this 745 needs the alternator replaced. My daughter was recently driving it when the alternator failed. She kept driving until the battery was dead. I had it towed to a local and trusted German Auto mechanic. He diagnosed that the water cooled alternator failed which drained the battery completely. On these models if you drain the battery completely dead you often have to reprogram the car. I put my daughter in one of my Audi A8s and have purchased a 2003 S8 for myself and decided to let this 745IL go. That being said it starts right up with a full battery, although runs rough. Before this incident it ran and drove perfectly. It only has 129k on it and was a dependable daily driver. Motor is strong with no leaks and trans shifts perfectly. All accessories work properly. It is very in good overall mechanical condition save the issues related to the alternator failure. Tires only have about 8k on them and brakes were recently done. I have taken this car on 5 long road trips over the best year and a half and it drove fantastic the whole time. The interior is in very good condition. Body is decent. Last year the right fender, bumper, and headlight assembly were replaced related to a low speed deer impact. Had a complete MAACO paint job as well. Vermont registration and title in my name as well as currently insured. You can get the alternator on ebay for around $300 and its about a 2-3 hour job to install. I do not have the computer equipment or knowledge to handle the reprograming aspect of the repair. It is a great buy for someone who has the capability to handle the repair or is a goldmine in all major parts. This is a no reserve auction with a low $500 starting bid.
