MY APOLOGIES FOR THE DELAY FREE VEHICLE WARRANTY FREE HYBRID BATTERY WARRANTY VEHICLE DESCRIPTION This is a beautiful car that is in near new condition inside, outside, underneath, and in the engine compartment, and I doubt you will find a nicer one from this era anywhere. TIRES They were manufactured and installed within the last 2 years so there is no dry cracking in them and they have at least 80% tread left. BRAKES The discs are in xlnt condition and do not have a ridge or any deep gouges from brake wear. The front brake pads have around 60% material left. SERVICE HISTORY The vehicle was serviced every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever came first, which is far more frequent than the manufacturers suggested service interval. INTERIOR SCENTS - It has never been smoked in, so it does not smell like an old dirty ash tray. It has also never had one of those horrid smelling "Air fresheners" that hang off the mirror and reek worse than a bottle of cheap perfume. SEATS - They look like new with no wear, no stains, no smudge marks, and no "dinginess". The seat foam on the drivers seat is like new and not crushed down like it is in many cars from having a heavy driver in it. The other seats were very rarely used, so they also look like new. CARPET - It has no stains, but the drivers side removable floor mat was slightly dirty from typical use so I bought brand new factory original Toyota carpeted floor mats which are still in the factor sealed bag. INTERIOR PLASTIC - Looks like new. INTERIOR CONTROLS - They look like new. There is no wear on the printing on the knobs and switches and the display screen is perfectly clear with no scratches or smudge marks. HEADLINER - Looks like new. HYBRID BATTERY INFORMATION It has a PROFESSIONALLY rebuilt battery that has a warranty. These Prius's can run just fine even if the battery is getting weak, however, when the battery gets weak, they loose some of their charge when they are not being driven. This can happen after the car sits for a few days to as quick as after it sits for just a few minutes, and they also use up the power the battery has stored much faster. This rapid battery drain means the gas engine will be operating more of the time, which can significantly decrease the mileage, plus it wears the gas engine out sooner. If the battery looses more than 1 bars after the car has sat for a few hours, it is getting pretty weak. Other than the battery loosing some charge when the car is not being driven, which a new buyer won't find out until AFTER they have paid for the car, the only other way to tell is by having all 28 of the individual cells in the battery pack tested individually. One way to do this is to use a volt meter, but this only tests the standing voltage and does not test the cycling/regenerative ability of the cell nor does it test the cell under a load. Testing the individual cells properly requires a machine that costs over $250,000, which very few hybrid battery "rebuilders" have. This machine also has the ability to "balance" all the cells to each other so they act as one battery as opposed to 28 individual ones. This balancing is extremely important, and if some cells in the battery have been changed but the battery was not balanced afterwards, the battery will not only not perform as well as it should, it will not last as long and would have, because an "unbalanced" battery pack can in fact cause other cells within it to prematurely fail. Every cell in this battery was tested on this over $250,000 machine, and was determined to be in xlnt condition, and the assembly was then re-balanced. FACTORY RECALLS/UPDATES Many vehicles have what the vehicle manufacturers refer to as "Recalls" and they still have them on some brand new cars they are currently making. One of the most recent is by Nissan for 215,000 vehicles they made from 2015 thru 2018. These or either some type of mechanical item or computer program that the manufacturer has updated and improved upon after they sold a particular vehicle that they feel should be installed on these vehicles for either increased safety, reliability, and/or performance etc. Every Prius made this year had a recall for a part in the steering and something for the regular 12 volt battery. Both of these items were changed soon after the car was sold, so there are no longer any unrepaired (open) recalls on this vehicle. Some vehicles still have recalls on them that have never been repaired, and unfortunately, some manufacturers will no longer repair these recalls for free, or they can simply no longer get the parts because the vehicle is to old for the manufacturer to continue to make, and stock, the parts. Because of this, it is best to call a dealerships service department BEFORE you buy it and give them the vin of the vehicle you are interested in and ask them to check the National data base to see if there are any open recalls on it.
