Relisted as last auction ended with bidder issue according to Ebay. Listed at No Reserve is my 2003 BMW 540i M Sport, 6 speed in Sterling Gray metallic over black leather interior. I have owned the 540 for just over a year. The previous owner from 2013-2017 added 90,000 of the total 192,800 commuting on the PA turnpike - highway miles. Service records include a recent clutch kit, flywheel, and rear main seal replacement performed in 2017 at 185,000 miles at a cost of $3,000. New front Ate rotors, synthetic engine oil/filter change, new cabin filters and driver's airbag replacement under factory recall done in 11/2018. Listed on the included Carfax, the previous owner was involved an accident in 2013 resulting in replacement/repairs to the front hood and spoiler. Mechanical: the 540i engine runs strong and pulls hard. There is no indication of any valve train wear or noise. The engine appears dry. The gearbox and clutch engagement work flawlessly as would be expected with the new clutch/flywheel. The entire drivetrain, suspension and brakes create a fun, tight, and fast driving experience that these e39 Euro muscle sedans are known for. The car defies the miles from the driver's seat. All electronics function properly including cold AC, power seats, one touch windows, sunroof, locks, instuments interior and exterior lights. The exceptions are: electronic trunk release, heated seats, and FM radio not functioning. The car has been stored as I had intended to refurbish the cosmetics and use the car as a weekend pleasure vehicle. However, I have lost storage and interest and the car needs to go to before winter. Remaining items on my to do list: Repair seat twist on passenger seat (has known twist on recline fixed by shortening the cable sheathing - youtube videos show how to fix), Hood/spoiler respray to fix chips/touch ups, windshield gasket, driver's seat bolster (worn as shown in pic), and repair trunk release. Interior condition is excellent. Headliner, carpets, door panels, rear seat, shelf, console, dash, etc near perfect. Factory BMW floor mats also excellent. As noted and pictured, driver's outer seat bolster is flattened out, a few pixels out as these cars are know for. Overall the inside of this car is a very pleasant place to spend time. There is a small gap between the new airbag and steering wheel surface and the BMW tech stated that it is installed correctly. Trunk is also clean and contains the original spare and full tool kit. A full set of original owners manuals in the glovebox Wheels/Tires: The factory staggered M Parallel wheels are in excellent condition. The picture shows minor outer rim rash on one front wheel. Shod with Continental DWS 235/40/18 front with 7/32 tread and 265/35/18 with 10/32 rear - near new. Body: Paint is very presentable aside from the front road rash from the highway driving miles. A couple of small door dings. There is a small rust bubble forming on driver's front rocker panel (see pic) and another spot forming on rear right quarter panel above the bumper. A new aerosol can of matching paint from Bavarian Autosport included for touching up if so inclined to tackle oneself. Front windshield gasket cracking. Brightwork, glass, lenses, shadowline trim all present very good and need no attention. Overall, this special, rare M Sport 540 represents the best of the e39's as BMW put all their best engineering and design into this final year edition. Despite the high miles, it presents and drives well and can be brought up to the next level cosmetically if the new owner desired. It runs and drives as it has half the indicated mileage. If you are seeking a real 540 M Sport, 6 speed in a highly desirable color combo, this one can be had at an affordable price selling at no reserve..
