Vehicle Detail
This car is being relisted after two non-paying winners of the previous auction. Please, do not bid or buy the car if you don't intend to pay. Up for sale is my 2004 CLK500. I bought this car 6 years ago and it's been the best car I've ever owned, but in the years since I bought it, I've married and had a couple of kids and this car is impractical for my life now. The car was my daily driver until April when I bought a family car. I did not renew the registration on this car, so it's been off the road for several months. There are plenty of good things about the car: Everything works as it should with the AC, cruise, tilt and telescopic wheel, power seats, sunroof, power locks, radio, navigation, rear defroster, heated seats. No check engine light or other warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard. It starts right up, doesn't smoke, and runs strong. The car has been well maintained and run consistently using only Mobil 1 synthetic oil as well as premium fuel. The interior is in good shape, with no tears in the seats or carpet. It's fun to drive. The car is in all original condition, without any personal modifications. The car does have a few minor issues, and I will do my best to recall those issues here. One of the dashboard air blend actuator doors is broken. This is a common problem with CLKs. It broke about 2 years ago, but I just lived with it.The center console lid does not work that well. Again, a common problem with the CLK. If you don't use the center console for storage (and there isn't a lot of storage space in there anyway), then there is no issue. I just used it as an armrest. The knob for the seat/steering wheel selection memory on the drivers door is missing. It could use a new rear right control arm bushing ($15). The front tires are in good shape. The rear tires might make it through inspection, but will need to be replaced sometime soon. There are random scratches and scrapes on the paint, as would be expected for a car almost 15 years old with the original paint. There are two small dents on the driver's side, one below the rear window and one in front of the rear tire. Both are negligible and difficult to see in the photos, but I wanted to point this out. The dashboard cup holder expands and holds a drink, but it does not recess all the way, as seen in the pictures. The glove compartment is finicky. You need to lift up on it and push it in a bit to get it to open. To work properly, it should be replaced. It has been this way since I purchased the car and has not bothered me.I have lived with the issues above, but I just want to disclose all I know about the condition of the vehicle. The accident that appears on the Carfax report is when a deer ran in front of the car, which required the front bumper cover and one headlight to be replaced. This was performed at a licensed auto repair facility. I have tried to represent the car to the best of my abilities. The car is being sold "as-is", in the condition it's in. You may come look at the vehicle prior to bidding, and I encourage you to do so. I do believe this car has at least another 100K+ miles left in it if maintained properly. A deposit of $500 is required within 24 hours, with the balance due within 7 days by cash or cashier's check. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you!
