Vehicle Detail
About the Car I'm going to give a refreshingly honest description of my car for sale. This is a 1990 Carrera 2 Cabriolet I bought in N.J. in 2001 and when not driven has been kept covered in a garage the whole time. I believe I'm the second owner, it was originally owned by a Florida woman. It had 107K miles on it when I purchased it, and I've driven it 23K miles in 17 years, and only for pleasure and never for commuting or track. I even had it shipped on a truck from NJ down to Florida when I moved here. I have the records of all the work I've had done over the years, which is a lot: new fan, steering rack, top, top motors, carpets, seat covers, custom sound system w/subwoofers, starter, oil pipes, cup wheels, suspension parts, and much more. A few years ago I had the engine rebuilt and displacement increased to 3.8L. This included new cylinders, pistons and sport cam. As part of this project we also installed a low-restriction cat and primary muffler bypass, and lightweight flywheel and sport clutch and Autothority chip. The work was done by Power Tech of Rockaway N.J. Also, had any dings and paint chips fixed and much of the car repainted original black by Dale's Custom Auto, a very well respected shop. I added custom Porsche badging and euro style (white) turn signals. The tires are almost new. I'm also throwing in the manual, Porsche 964 Enthusiasts Handbook, framed Porsche '63 poster print, and trickle charger. Autocheck shows no accidents or issues. The car looks great, drives fine as well, but it's not perfect. For a 28-year-old car, the issues are pretty minor. There are no problems with the engine, drivetrain, suspension, electrical, exterior, or any other major system. There is a small oil leak at the rear of the car. The spoiler wants to stay up instead of raising and lowering at speed like it used to, a local Porsche shop thinks it's microswitches. The lightweight flywheel makes it more prone to stalling than a stock car, and the larger engine displacement generates more heat so you have to be careful not to accelerate in too low a gear or it can ping when it's hot outside. The A/C isn't very strong, never was (but I only drive it when you can put the top down). The power top sometimes needs a little nudge on the right side to open, it closes fine. There are a couple of stains on the rear carpet, not too bad. Some of the leather could use a dye touch-up (I have the dye). The lumbar support in the driver's seat doesn't seem to inflate. All of these things are solvable if they are important to you (they aren't to me). About the Auction I'm listing this car at a low starting price, NO RESERVE, and a Buy It Now Price of $32,000. I rarely drive it, I turned my garage into a pool house and I'm paying to store it. I want it sold ASAP. I will show this car on Saturday, Nov. 24th and Sunday, Nov. 25th only. You can contact me and send proof of funds if you are interested, I'll send you the address and we will schedule a time. You will need to present photo ID. Payment by Paypal, cash, or wire transfer only. Thanks for looking. Car Pickup This auction ends on Wed., Dec 5th at 6 pm EST. The vehicle will be available for pickup that evening and the following day, Thursday, Dec. 6th. After that, it will be available for pickup Dec. 15th thru Dec. 24th.
