This is going up for a second time. Thanks to the many watchers and inquiries on the initial listing. I pulled the listing due to a local buyer. It ended up that he could not pull together the funds he said he could! SO, I am relisting and will let the auction run REGARDLESS of local interest!!! For sale is my 1998 Porsche 986 (Boxster). I am the second owner and have owned this beauty the last 16 years! It is with an extremely heavy heart and a lot of debating that I have decided to let her go to a new home. The car has had many tasteful modifications made to her. She sounds GREAT with the stainless steel GHL performance exhaust system (check out short video of start, acceleration and then braking). The car has always been properly maintained and this is evident in the service records in the 3-inch service binder. The car has ALWAYS been garaged and never purposely driven in the rain. It has never been tracked and has mainly been a weekend and dinner night driver. The ONLY reason I am selling is because I finally bought my dream car and do not need two convertibles in the household. I see a lot of listings that state “rare,” “one of a kind,” etc., etc. I do not want to sound cliché but I would dare someone to find a better example of this car model. I take meticulous care of my vehicles and as mentioned, have owned the car for the last 16 years. This was not a purchase that was beaten up for a few years and now letting it go. This car has been taken care of. She currently has 105,100 well maintained miles on her. It has a 5-speed manual transmission. It is always interesting to me why someone is selling their car. For proof of my reason, there is a photo of the Porsche in the garage with it’s new roommate. For full disclaimer, the roommate is not part of the sale but does demonstrate why I am letting the Porsche go to a new home :) This is a Stuttgart built Porsche, not one of the Finnish built variants by the contract company Valmet. There are varying opinions and preference where the cars were built. For me, I preferred my Porsche out of Stuttgart, built by Porsche. (The 11th character in the VIN denotes the vehicle was built in Stuttgart, Germany instead of Uusikaupunki, Finland….as would be otherwise denoted by a ‘U’). This is a Southern states vehicle so no worries about long-term exposure to salted roads. The original owner lived in Sawgrass, Florida and since my purchase 16 years ago, it has been in South Carolina. Although the car has been extremely well maintained, it is still a pre-owned car. 20 years old…so technically, now vintage Porsche! My only point is there are some minor paint chips from road debris, etc., but definitely still WAY above par as far as overall condition. As I stated earlier, I truly dare someone to find a better example in this condition. Whoever buys this will be pleasantly surprised at what a great car they are getting for the money…that is for sure. However, if you expect a new car, you should buy new. Everyone has different expectations when it comes to pre-owned. I have owned a lot of sports cars and this one is by far one of my favorites…very well balanced, great sound and quite easy to drive. Original owner’s manual and all other OEM books in original carry case Attractive ‘986’ badging on exterior and interior of car Magnetic Rock Guards for rear quarter panels Various hard and softcover books related to the vehicle Note: The original Boxster Red leather developed by Porsche had topcoat issues that created cracking of the leather top surface; especially in the seats on ALL the Boxster Red leather variant vehicles. I am an automotive engineer and had the resource connections to have replacement leather dye-matched to the Boxster Red. The leather used was nappa grain, top grain hides from Europe. The leather sourcing and chemicals were from the same tannery that provides leather to Mercedes for their flagship Maybach vehicle. The seats and any areas not previously covered in leather were completely redone. The leather in the vehicle is stunning. The craftsmanship is top notch in execution as well. You will not find this in any other vehicle to this level of quality for sure. I can answer any questions about this modification. The leather alone for this cost me $4500! SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY PLEASE!! You should have funding in order before bidding or contacting me about the vehicle. Since there are extras with the vehicle that are bulky (exhaust, lights, etc.), I prefer someone make a local pick up. However, if you live far away and want it, I will sell it to you but you will be responsible for the shipping. This is my personal vehicle and I am only selling within the US. Apologies for any inconvenience. ADDED 08.11.18 - Someone asked me about the clutch condition in the car. The clutch and RMS (Rear Main Seal) were replaced February 2nd, 2016 (service record in binder). Since I have not been driving the car much, the car has only around 200 miles on the new clutch! It is easy on the leg and engages smoothly as it should. This car is a very smooth manual driver. The old clutch was not slipping. I replaced the clutch simply as a preventative maintenance schedule item. On Sep-04-18 at 10:48:50 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: Added Sept. 4th. I received a message asking to see the top up so I added two photos. As you can see, the top is there and in great shape. The rear plastic is perfectly clear with no hazing or cracks. I went ahead and started gathering the extras I mentioned in the listing. There are some items I did not even list such as some diamond plate floor mats and various extra interior parts from where the custom leather job was completed (new parts were ordered for the leather wrapping. These are some of the old ones.). The exhaust is there and practically new if you want to go back stock. The original springs are there, the rear lights, side markers, etc. The only item no shown is the old headlights. They are nowhere to be found so I want to be up front about that. However, there are other items present I did not list as included that are.
