EBAY FEEDBACK Ebay feedback is extremely important, and I have been fortunate to have received excellent comments from everyone that have bought cars and motorcycles from me. Most of the vehicles I listed have sold prior to the auctions scheduled end date to buyers that used the "Buy It Now" feature. I am not a dealer . I am merely selling off a large collection of things that my wife and I have had for years as well as some of our relatives vehicles whom don't have an Ebay account etc. FREE WARRANTY I am well aware of the huge risk and fear some people have of buying any used vehicle, therefore, I am giving a 5 day or 300 mile warranty (which ever comes first), which will be in writing and provided to the buyer at the time of the sale. I realize that this may not sound like much, however, I am the only person on Ebay whom is giving a free warranty of any kind on a motorcycle, and if a vehicle makes it 300 miles with no issues, it will likely make it thousands more. The warranty will cover the engine, transmission, clutch, and final drive. If any of these items fail during that time I will either pay for the item, pay to repair it, or will refund the entire sale price of the vehicle. These various options are up to my discretion. SELLER BACKGROUND INFO I have been a vintage auto and motorcycle mechanic and professional vehicle restorer for 40 years, and some of the vehicles I restored sold for world record prices at the famous Barrett Jackson Auction in Arizona, plus, I was a motorcycle engineer at Kawasaki Motors for several years, therefore, I know both cars and motorcycles very well. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION This bike is in very nice cosmetic condition compared to similar police bikes. It is also in superb mechanical condition. It was used mainly for traffic control at events etc, so it has not been thrashed like many other police bikes have and most of the miles are freeway miles. MILEAGE It just turned 40,000 miles. YEAR MODEL IMPROVEMENTS BMW made this model with this engine from 2006 thru 2009. During these years, they updated and improved various parts of these bikes including the brakes, engine, and final drive whenever any issues may have arisen, therefore, due to these continuing improvements, the 2009 model is best of all these years. In 2010, they made several major changes, and being the first year for this updated bike, there were some issues that the 2009 didn't have. THIS BIKE VERSUS OTHER BMW & HONDA POLICE BIKES THAT ARE FOR SALE There are a few BMW and Honda police bikes on the internet right now, so I suggest you look at a few others first then see this one last and compare. I know these BMW bikes fairly well and know some of the others that are out there, and none of the ones I have seen compare to this one for the condition and year and asking price. CONDITION GUARANTEE I know very well what it is like to read a description of a vehicle or talk to the owner on the phone about one and then drive a long way to see it only to find the one they are selling sometimes doesn't even remotely resemble the description, therefore, If you come look at this bike and it does not match the description EXACTLY, I will pay you fifty cents a mile in cash for every mile you drive from your home up to 100 miles. I doubt you will find anyone else willing to make this same offer. THIS BIKE HAS NEVER BEEN CRASHED LIKE MOST POLICE BIKES HAVE HOW TO TELL IS A BIKE HAS BEEN LAID DOWN HARD Other than the crash bars being heavily scratched, you should look at the bracket that mounts from the outer front bar to the engine. The end of the bracket where it bolts to the outer bar should have around 1/2" clearance from the lower bronze metallic colored engine cowl/fairing. If the bike has been laid down hard, this inner bracket will be touching the fairing guaranteed and the outer bar may be also. If this is the case, it means both the outer bar and the inner bracket are bent, and it is nearly impossible to straighten them. If you need new ones, they are extremely expensive. You should also start looking for additional signs of damage elsewhere if this bracket or the outer bar is touching the fairing. The bars on this bike have the proper clearance and there are no scrapes on the front bars, in fact, they look nearly showroom new and they are original to the bike. ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN The engine starts within 2 seconds even after sitting overnight and when it is cold outside. It immediately goes to high idle like it should then idles normally after around 2 minutes. It does not smoke when first started or when accelerating hard. The clutch works perfectly. There is no chatter when letting the lever out and it does not slip. The clutch begins to engage after the lever has been let out a little less than 1/3rd of the way which is exactly where it should if the disc is new or has very little wear. The final drive is xlnt and does not make any noise and there is no excessive backlash in the gears. There are no leaks anywhere. ENGINE NOISES Listen closely to the engine at idle on any of these BMW police bikes you look at. Many of them have a slight to moderate rattle or klunking sound at idle which is easily noticeable. This is a sign of premature internal wear caused by constantly flogging the bejesus out of them on a daily basis, and although it is usually not something that needs to be immediately addressed, it is something to be aware of and consider when making your decision when buying one. The engine on this one is just as quiet as it was the day it rolled off the factory floor even when accelerating hard. BRAKES It has ABS brakes and they work perfectly with minimal effort similar to the way power brakes feel. The pads have around 70% material left and the rotors are not heavily gouged from frequent hard braking like many of them are. TIRES They have around 85% tread left and are not dry cracking and have no unusual wear. COSMETIC RESTORATION There were a few small scrapes in the paint where the decals were and the tops of the saddlebags had a few scuff marks where the riders boot hit them while getting on and off the bike, so since I am fairly picky and the rest of the bike is extremely nice, I had those parts repainted using PPG base coat with clear, which together cost over six hundred dollars a gallon, and I have the receipts from the paint store to prove it which will be included with the bike. Large white side fairingsSaddlebag sidesSaddlebag lids I also replaced some of the factory torx head screws and bolts with stainless oval socket head screws which I had polished to a chrome like finish simply because I did not like the dull and boring look of the original ones. Front caliper mounting screws. FEATURES It has heated grips with low and high setting. You can barbecue a chicken on them on the high setting. The windscreen is electrically operated and adjustable up and down. The throttle can be locked into any position to reduce hand fatigue on long trips. DUAL BATTERIES This bike has factory dual batteries. One is for starting and all the standard non police lights and the auxiliary one is for the police lights.
