All maintenance has been performed by a factory trained Mercedes mechanic. If you are looking to get into a starter Mercedes, this is a great one. This diesel-powered 1987 Mercedes is equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Sunroof, Power Windows, Automatic Transmission and Cruise Control. Although the first W116 S-Class in the 1970s established Mercedes-Benz as a global leader in safety engineering and technical prowess for sedans, it was the W126 S-Class, beginning in 1979, that saw this model become a top-tier luxury flagship and a lasting symbol of affluence throughout the 1980s.With a coefficient of drag 14 % better than the previous model, the S-Class signaled a newfound focus on aerodynamics and fuel-efficiency. With a curb weight at 3,600 pounds, this generation of S-Class was quite efficient for its time. This car is a time capsule from the 80's. This very clean example has only 69,500 original miles. These cars have been known to run up to 400,000 miles before the engine requires being rebuilt. This one is barley broken in. The body is in excellent condition, the beautiful gold color exterior with the like new tan interior is very complimentary. There is no rust anywhere on the car. It has been in California almost since day one and never in the snow or areas with any salty roads. This car is as immaculate as an original, unrestored unit can be. The car has received a thorough review and mechanical appraisal. Everything that was needing attention has been addressed. A partial list of work performed includes; new Bilstein shocks, new rotors and pads, a new AGM battery, 4 new tires, flushed/filled coolant system, all new front engine belts, fuel filters, oil/filter change, and we performed a AC R134 conversion so the air conditioner is nice and cold. The cars transmission leaked, so it was removed and had a complete reseal kit installed. It runs and shifts properly and does not leak. I've owned this vehicle for a couple of years and it has never given me any mechanical issues since I've owned it. All the electronics are working fine, like the windows, sunroof, heat/ac/etc. Radio works fine, as well as a new antenna. You will not be disappointed.
