Vehicle Detail

The Good: Body is nearly perfect. (unlike mine) There are NO dings, NO dents, NO scratches. (no runs, no hits no errors)Tires only have about 25% wearAll glass is intact, NO cracks (I've always just said no to crack), No chipsInterior is 8.975 out of 10. NO rips, NO tears, NO stains. No unidentifiable dry body fluids.Always a non-smoking vehicle but I sure did fart a lot into the seat cushion. I'd be careful the first few times sitting down. Vehicle has been sitting a few years and fabric could stand to be vacuumed but that's about it.Trunk interior clean, no stains or damage. Still has original jack and spare which has never seen the road.A/C blows cold, heater blows warm, rented companion blowsPower steering works great, no system leaksPower driver seat, manual adjustment on passenger side both function as they should.Wide body seats 6 comfortablyRear seat big enough for unbridled passionVery smooth, quiet ride. Handles well.It got 23 to 25 MPG in town and a true 31-32 MPG highwaySurprisingly enough, it does not now and has not ever, leaked oil. So the Acronym, Drips Oil Drops Grease Everywhere does not apply hereStarts effortlessly even when cold (wish my wife did).Windshield wipers and fluid pump work good.Does not burn oil.All electrics function and charging system works well. The (Not So) Bad:No ABS brakesNo CD player. AM/FM radio and cassette player only (easily remedied)Very slight paint flaking off some of the plastic bumper covers (see Pictures)Will need new battery which is a pain in the butt to change. It's located ahead of the passenger side front wheel under a bunch of other shi......stuff and is time consuming to change. It takes a Mayflies lifetime to change. The Ugly:Original ownerThe 2000 was notorious for engine problems. Most owners never got more than 65,000 to 85,000 miles out of the engine until it took itself to lunch. Sludge would build up in the oil system and reduce the flow of oil causing lubrication problems that led to over heating and premature wear due to inadequate oil pressure and flow. Engine starts easily even when cold or has been sitting for extended periods and runs quite smooth. BUT, The cam sensor quit working all of a sudden one day and the engine began to have a very noticeable slap at the rear of the driver side. The problem corrected itself in 30 miles but the problem returned on a 15 mile drive home from work a week later. My OBD reader reported cam sensor failure so I replaced the cam sensor. OBD reports NO PROBLEMS or error codes at this time. But there is still an audible tic at the driver side rear of the engine that increases and decreases with the RPMs. The sound is high up like a valve. The timing seems to be correct because it really does run very smooth. I don't think the timing belt slipped. My mechanic seems to think one of the valves isn't opening or closing correctly due to the cam sensor failure. Engine runs very smooth but does not develop full power so it's not safe to drive on the road. But, it does drive and the transmission shifts smoothly and when it should. The Take Away:Other than the current situation with the engine, I have never had a lick of trouble with this car. It was and is a great highway vehicle! Smooth, quiet, handles well got fantastic gas mileage and I really liked the interior roominess. Making out in it was a cinch because the front seats folded down almost flat. The trunk is big enough to hold at least three bodies... I mean, all the luggage you could ever need. I bought a Subaru because I live in Montana and an all wheel drive vehicle makes sense although the traction on the Intrepid was still pretty good. I would prefer local pick up. If you want it shipped, you will have to arrange that. Scammers please, I know all the tricks so don't even try. Payment by Cash or Paypal ONLY. By placing your payment in PayPal escrow, you, the buyer and I, the seller are both protected. Think of it as a payment condom.Given the physical condition and functionality of all systems (except that damn pesky engine), I think the price is fair. Butt, who nose? The smell of cash is intoxicating and I've been known to make rash decisions while under its influence . Please email with any questions (relating to the sale of this vehicle) you may have. Thanks for looking.
