Vehicle Detail
I wish I had the knowelge and mechanical skills to restore this truck back to its true classic self. However with all the projects I've got going on, I have very reluctantly decided to give it up. My hope is that someone out there has the same passion as I did for restoring this beautiful truck back to its original condition. I haven't owned it for long but will do my best to describe the good and not so great things about it. I have spent some time inside and underneath contemplating what needs to be done. Honestly my lack of good mechanical ability and space to work on it is all that's stopping me. Weather you wanna restore it or drive it as is . This is to the best of my knowledge. Here's the Good. The truck is an SR5 regular cab with cruise, power and sport packages. Just about every option available back in 1989 was on this truck. Not many regular cabs with the 3VZE V6 were made. The trucks motor runs strong and accelerates effortlessly up hills. Cruises at 75 mph with no problem. The transmission and clutch operate smoothly. Shifts though all gears with ease. Transmission doesn't leak or make any unusual noises. Four wheel drive works good. Tires are 50%ish with the factory aluminum wheels (could use some polishing). The exhaust is good. Frame is solid with minimal surface rust. The body is mostly rust free. Rust on both front fenders. Brakes are 100% with no pulling or squeaks . The master cylinder and brake booster are fine. The cab has normal wear for a 30 year old truck. The dash is all compete except for the ash tray and fuse box cover. The center console is a little rough but salvageable, The dash cover is excellent with no cracks. Passenger seat is in decent shape just dirty. Drivers seat is worn but functiinal. The power door locks and windows all work. Power mirrors are disconnected and the switch is missing but easy to get. The passenger door is fine. Drivers side has different color panel . BTW both doors function and close tight. Now, the not so great...The AC and cruise indicator lights come on, but that's it. I haven't messed with them enough to trace the problem, The engine leaks about 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I suspect the valve cover gaskets as there's no water in the oil. The engine throttles up and down when you apply the brakes. I narrowed this down to something in the brake electrical. I had disabled it by removing the #6 stop fuse. It's mostly just annoying when you come to a stop.Dont notice while driving. The engine runs at a slightly high idle (1200-1500 rpms) and runs rich. You can smell it if you roll the windows down. Has vacum leak or bad egr. I dont believe its a hard fix. Just hard ror me to figure out. As for the glass, there are 2 tiny chips in the windshield. I think they can be fixed if addressed soon. the sunroof has a crack but it doesn't leak. I've done my best to honestly describe all the issues with this truck, but I'm sure I have left out some of the good and not so great unintentionally. I really hope this truck can end up in the right hands. Still a lot of life left in this survivor. I'd like to see this in a couple years all fixed up. BTW if you have any ?s, feel free to call or text (417) 385-8026. Also I can meet at Airport or Bus stop. Thanks for looking!
