Vehicle Detail
1996 Jaguar XJS in great shape! This car runs very well and is a blast to drive. It never fails to turn heads and someone always comes over to see it when I fill it up. I have driven it on several Chicago - Lake Geneva trips and one Chicago - St Louis trip and the car is very smooth and comfortable on the highway. I am regrettably selling to make room in my garage for a new project I am working on. I prefer to buy cars that are from the south as cars last longer down there. This one started it's life in Florida and moved to Louisiana; I am the 3rd owner and the first outside of those two states. The reason I bought this particular car is because it is so clean and free of rust. This car is garage kept and like my other classic cars goes into hibernation when winter brings snow to Chicago. When I bought this car I had been shopping for a V-12 XJS. The V-12 is an impressive engine but I found the driving dynamics of the straight-6 to be much better. It's a much lighter engine which means the car handles better than the heavier V-12. I was really torn after I test-drove this car because I really wanted the 12 but knew the 6 would be more fun to drive. I made the right decision. The car has new front brakes (calipers, hoses, rotors, and pads) as well as wheel bearings. I flushed the brake fluid and radiator fluid this fall and the car has about 1,500 miles before it's time for an oil change (filter is included). The car got 5 new Yokohama Avid tires this fall (yes, 5 - I replaced the spare, too). The bellows for the cruise control was broken when I purchased the car so that has been replaced as well. The car runs, drives, and handles excellent. On the inside, I have replaced all the speakers (the old ones were dry-rotted) and installed a new radio with Bluetooth/mp3 player. If originality is more important to you I still have the original radio the car came - it works but I wanted Bluetooth so I could make calls while driving. I purchased a new Jaguar logo'ed cover for the convertible top a few months back. I also had a set of Cocomat floor mats made for the car. The stock shifter was replaced with a burl wood "Growler" logo knob. The seats very comfortable and have no rips/tears; the top has no rips/tears or leaks, and the dash top is not cracked. What's wrong with the car? The ABS light comes on. I re-seated the front-right ABS connector and the light went away but then came back. This doesn't seem to have any impact on the braking of the car because I have been driving it that way for a while. The car comes with a small collection of spare parts and all the service records I have been able to compile. Also included is a Jaguar-specific code reader that lets you read freeze-frame data and fault codes for almost every system in the car. A printed service manual will be included as well as the battery maintainer I installed. Please ask any questions before bidding. I am not a dealer; I just like cars and sometimes have to make room in my garage. I am willing to be available if you need to have the car shipped. The title is clear/clean and is in my name. This Jaguar is sold as-is and where-is. This vehicle has no warranty. $500 Paypal deposit is due immediately at the end of auction and the balance is due within 7 days. I prefer wire transfers or cash at my bank; I will accept a cashier's check but I will not release the car or title until my banker tells me it is OK to do so.
