Vehicle Detail
The history on this model begins when the 7 Up company was planning a promotion for the 1990 NCAA Basketball tournament and commissioned the build of 30 limited edition Mustang convertibles. The 7 Up company subsequently backed out of the promotion and the Ford Motor company decided to produce 5,000 cars and offer them as a special edition. However, only 4,103 cars were produced and Ford re-branded the cars and offered them as a Special Edition and an unofficial commemoration of the Mustang's 25th anniversary. Of the cars produced 1,360 came with a five-speed manual transmission and 2,743 had automatic overdrive transmissions. This is 1 of 2,743 produced. The limited-edition Mustangs, known as 7 Up cars, are LX convertibles equipped with the Fox body era 5.0L V8 engine and deliver around 255 horsepower. All cars were painted Deep Emerald Green metallic paint and featured a white leather interior and a white convertible top. The front fascia, outside mirrors and body side moldings were painted to match the green exterior. Every 7 Up Edition Mustang came with Michelin 225/60/15 tires mounted on factory GT 15-inch, turbine style aluminum rims and a special-value package consisting of cruise control, A/C and a premium sound system with AM/FM radio and a cassette player. This car is very clean and has been well-maintained. Its mileage is indicative of moderate driving. The car was not a daily driver, even when it was new. The door flanks are free of door dings, the body is straight, the headlights are bright and clear and all the emblems are still in place. As a 28-year-old car it does have imperfections. One is the front left fascia (bumper) and the other is almost unnoticeable is on the front, left portion of the hood next to the headlamp. See photos. The AC does not blow cold air. Since it was working fine the last time it was used, I was informed by a mechanic that because of the lack of usage seals and "O" rings will tend to dry thus compromising a tight seal. The carpets, door panels, dash board and the convertible top are sound and in great condition. There is a slight tear on the rear of the passenger seat (see interior photos), otherwise the upholstery is very good shape. The convertible top stows under a black vinyl boot and a white boot is also included. The trunk is reasonably-sized and looks new. The 5.0 L engine is stock and there are no signs of smoking or unusual noises. The engine bay, nicely maintained, still wears almost all its original equipment. The radiator was replaced with an updated aluminum style in August 2016. At that time the water pump, hoses, and thermostat were also replaced and has a current California smog certificate. The engine produces a nice distinctive roar that can be heard through the dual exhaust system. It has not been driven more than 30 miles since the replacement parts were installed. This Mustang has been in my family since its purchase in 1990. It has always been garaged and has no rust. Additionally, this car has not been smoked in or subject to pets of any kind. Since about 1998 the car has been driven sparingly, averaging less than 200 miles per year. I am not willing to let it deteriorate in place any longer and would rather see it go to someone who will own, drive and appreciate it. As this car approaches the 30-year anniversary, one can foresee a time when the 7 Up Edition, like other special edition Mustangs Ford has created, will become a sought after, highly prized vehicle. This car is being sold AS-IS and there is no warranty given or implied. Although the mileage listed is accurate, the mileage may be subject to change a few miles. Also, the buyer assumes all costs associated with shipping the car.
