2004 MINI COOPER BASE PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BIDDING!! I’m selling the Mini because of the issues listed herein. The auction is NO RESERVE and the starting price is low. Buy it and fix it or part it out. Possible race car conversion? You decide, at this price anything is possible. IT DOES RUN BUT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IF YOU BUY IT DO NOT PLAN ON DRIVING IT HOME! I’D TRAILER IT. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTIES EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THIS IS NOT A DAILY DRIVER IN IT’S CURRENT CONDITION. THIS MINI WILL REQUIRE WORK TO BE DRIVEN AS A DAILY OR FOR ANY DISTANCES AT ALL FOR THAT MATTER. The Mini starts up and the engine runs as it should. It does not overheat or have any abnormal sounds or issues. The transmission has issues. It is the dreaded CVT automatic transmission, GOOGLE it. The car will go into gear and drive fine, for a while. Then, it stalls out and jumps a bit when you decelerate. This happens between 15 to 20 minutes of driving. However, for those first minutes, it drives fine. I did top off the transmission fluid level, it was about a liter low and this seemed to help. I’ve GOOGLED and read that there are computer flashes and updates that may need to be performed by the dealer. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS. I am not a mechanic. I will describe the Mini in as much detail as possible. But, please feel free to contact me with any questions at all. HISTORY I bought the car earlier this year for my daughter. She hated it and drove it very little until I found her something else. When I bought it, the car had been involved in a front end (left front corner) collision. The previous owner repaired the car himself and did not do a proper job. For example, he drilled new strut mounts in the wheel well and simply moved the strut instead of pulling the frame an inch. It worked out ok except that the hood does not fit 100% correct, as evidenced by the pictures. I think it can be fitted properly with some work and look ok. I never really tried as I didn’t want to screw it up. Additionally, he fitted some of the other front-end body panels with screws and zip ties that are not factory. The hood was not replaced but rather, banged out and refitted. That’s kind of why I thought it might be a candidate for a race car, just tear it down and build one. Other than that, it’s straight forward. Basically, the car from the front cowl back is original and in average condition. EXTERIOR Other than the hood and fitment of the front-end trim components the car is average condition with normal rock chips, scratches and blemishes as you would expect. The glass is all intact, but the windshield does have a small chip. The exterior lights all work as they should. The doors open and close properly with the window lowering as it should upon opening and closing. The rear hatch operates as it should. WHEELS & TIRES The wheels and tires are in average condition for a vehicle with this mileage and age. Some wheel center stickers are absent. The tires are 195/55/16 with about 70% tread on the front and 20% tread on the rear. The brakes seem to be in good condition with a new set of pads all the way around still in the box included with the sale. INTERIOR & ACCESSORIES The interior is in average condition for the age and mileage. The headliner is sagging and there are seam separations in the front seat as noted in the pictures. There are no rips or holes in the seats other than that. All the switches operate properly – window, mirror, lock and all others operate properly. The radio works. The fuel gauge is intermittent. All other gauges work as they should. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I can turn it off with my code reader, but it comes back on within 30 minutes or so. The cruise control works. The A/C is cold. The remote locks work. ENGINE The engine fires up and runs as it should. There are no unusual sounds coming from it at all. An aftermarket exhaust is installed and sounds good but is a bit louder than the factory exhaust. TRANSMISSION As noted above – The Mini starts up and the engine runs as it should. I have tried to accurately describe the Mini to the best of my ability. However, please call or text with any questions at all. TERMS OF SALE A $100.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close. CASH OR CERTIFIED FUNDS ONLY. The balance is due within 3 days and the vehicle must be picked up within 3 days as well. THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTIES EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THIS IS NOT A DAILY DRIVER IN IT’S CURRENT CONDITION.
