Vehicle Detail

$0.99; no reserve auction!!! Mercedes E420, Black, black leather interior, all extras, in excellent condition! No rust! See photos! Bilstein B12 sport suspension; V8-power, fast yet frugal: 21.25mpg over 70,000 miles! I paid: fuel/mile $ 0.14 (fuel per mile) maintenance/mile $ 0.10 (maintenance per mile) I’m selling my beloved 1997 Mercedes E420 after having owned it for over four years and driven it 70,000 flawless miles!! I was going to keep it longer and run it from the current 187,000 miles up to 300,000 miles but I really need a wagon and I just found one so this one has to go. I have fastidiously maintained this car and it looks, drives and handles like a much newer car; everything works as it should: power windows, power mirrors, power moon roof, automatic rear view mirror, ice cold A/C automatic climate control (I replaced the evaporator, the condenser and very recently the compressor, i.e. the entire system); pneumatic power looks work silently; new remote key from Mercedes dealer; Bilstein B12 sport suspension with Eibach springs installed; H&R sway bar installed in the rear; replaced all – and I mean all – suspension bushings and bearings including rear sub-frame bearings with Lemfoerder and Febi/Bilstein parts. The car is lowered and firmer as a result and it out-handles any W210 and W211 I’ve ever driven. Particularly changing the rear sub-frame bushings (after everything else was new) transformed the handling of the car: my cornering speeds improved by 15-20%! Worn-out sub-frame bushings seriously deteriorate the handling, yet nobody changes all these bushings because it would be prohibitively expensive to have it done even by an indie shop. Thus most W210’s (including E55 AMG’s) live with sloppy, clunky and tired handling! The interior is flawless; the leather is in excellent condition, A/C, power moon roof, power windows, power memory seats, radio work fine; the headliner has the typical Chrysler-induced sag! The paint is good, no fading or clear coat damage, regularly waxed and polished! The front shows typical impact of high way driving. The brakes have been replaced front and rear recently including the parking brake; new alternator; new radiator; new ignition coils and spark plugs; new valve cover gaskets; new fuel pump; front door moldings have been restored and all fasteners have been reset (they let go over time and the door panels start flopping when shutting the doors). The engine is very powerful (V8, 279hp) and runs extremely smoothly, it easily reaches the electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH yet is easy on the gas; the automatic 5-speed transmission shifts flawlessly up and down, even more so after the recent change to fully synthetic transmission oil (on this edition of the 722.6 transmission you can still drain the fluid from the torque converter thus changing practically all the fluid!). The engine and transmission really belie their age: they feel like a new! It’s a truly luxury drive train that can be very fast when called upon! It is a great car good for at least another 150,000 miles and I am sorry to let it go. I put a lot of money and effort into it! PS.: I will convert it back to the original steering wheel which is in excellent condition, the MOMO steering wheel as shown in the pictures is not included in the purchase price. I will also convert it back to the original radio which was in fine working condition other than the typical oversensitive volume knob. The $600 pioneer radio is not included in the purchase price; however I will leave the up-graded speakers. The bad: Early version of Mercedes’ water based paint finish: it has three very small surface rust bubbles that don’t show in the photos and that haven’t changed during the last four years. The SRS light is on because of the MOMO steering wheel; the air bag is disconnected. The original steering wheel (which I will put back in, the Momo wheel is not included) has the original airbag however I believe the clock spring needs replacing (about $120 new or much cheaper used on eBay). It’s a common Mercedes issue for this model. The front wheels have a little too much tow-in which should be adjusted before putting on new tires. I just rotated them to the rear and they are well worn. I mentioned the headliner above. Any questions, please call Jens 941 266 3578 Please see below the detailed service history!
