Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 2002 Ford Excursion, with the desirable 7.3 power stroke diesel. I am the second owner of this vehicle having purchased it with 113,000 miles on it, from a reputable dealer. Its previous life was in the dry state of Texas. I used the vehicle for my art & picture framing business - hauling supplies and finished products. It's main purpose was to make delivery runs to NYC. I chose this vehicle for its known reliability and its capacity for large cargo (seats folded down). At the time, I had a house in the mountains and previously owned a 2WD Sprinter van, but the 2WD would not cut it with any bit of snow or ice. I always admired expedition-type vehicles and wanted to build a super reliable American one. This was the perfect platform for that (note: See add-ons below). The vehicle has no spared expense when it comes to maintenance. It was all performed by my mechanic in NJ who has serviced all my vehicles for 20 years. The mileage is all highway. As with any unique and custom vehicle, you can always continue to accessorize. I never had the opportunity to install fog lights in front and rear bumpers, which you could as there are mounts and tabs. As I started to build the vehicle, I wanted to preserve its rust-free body and kept it off the road (garaged) in the winter as much as I could. It spent over a year out in CA for a job I was doing. Only up until last winter, having moved to Nantucket Island, MA, did it experience a full winter outside. Which brings me to the reason I have the vehicle for sale. My life and work have changed and this vehicle is not necessary for me to own on the island. I will be taking the Excursion off Nantucket on Nov. 19th 2017 to Rhinebeck NY. You are more than welcome to come see the vehicle on Nantucket, the ferries leave from Hyannis MA. I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is for sale locally. Pick-up can be here on Nantucket, or alternatively, in Rhinebeck NY. To reiterate, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON NANTUCKET AFTER NOV. 19TH 2017. After then, it will be available for local pick-up in Rhinebeck NY only. Check out the vehicle history report. I am going to detail specifics about the vehicle below, however, if you are seriously interested in my Ford Excursion, I urge you to contact me on the phone. I know everything about this vehicle. I am willing to provide my mechanic's contact information for serious inquirers only. I refuse to waste his time. Body/Interior:Rust-free Texas truck. Minor dings and scratches. Overall paint is in very good condition. I washed the truck with soap and water for photos, has not been waxed yet (which I do before winter months). The front and rear bumpers are made by BUCKSTOP - Made in USA, Prineville OR. I had them delivered to me in raw steel and had Hubbell Galvanizing, in Upstate NY galvanize and powder coat them. It is an advanced "duplex" coating system that is used for commercial and industrial applications. In the event of powder coating chips, a galvanized surface is underneath. No one seems to make a decent roof rack for the Ford Excursion, so I had an aluminum fabricator who specializes in special radar arches for yachts, fabricate the roof rack. It's heavy duty, well made, low profile, no vibration or harmonic sounds while driving, etc. I went out of my way to find 5 bar aluminum for the roof rack decking, to give it more of a european Land Rover look. Excess decking was fabricated into footsteps for front and rear bumpers. I removed all the factory rubber matting & tar board that was adhered to the floor and completely gutted the rear cargo area of the vehicle (interior side panels, speakers, rear a/c heating, etc.) to provide a more utilitarian cargo area. Any unnecessary factory holes were blocked off with small pop-riveted aluminum plates. It was then all professionally coated with Linex, down the rocker panels, underneath the doors, and entire leading bottom edge of truck. The idea is always to do this before it rusts, not after. The seats are in really good shape (no rips or tears), the top of the steering wheel is wearing through. Mechanical/Suspension:Anything this vehicle ever needed mechanically was always taken care of preemptively. Within the past few years I had the suspension upgraded with F350 factory leaf springs "X" and "B" code springs. Google this suspension upgrade, as many Ford Excursion guys do it. Front and rear sway bars. Dual front shock mounts by Icon. Adjustable pan rod for front end. This is a really nice set-up, highway cruising at 80mph and she is straight and stable. I found a set of one-year-only (2004) factory Ford 18-in. wheels. I had them professionally refinished and clear coated. It's running Michelin E load range tires that still have decent life left in them. Drive train was regularly serviced. Royal purple fluids, AMSoil synthetic oil changed every 7,000 miles. MAG-HYTEC Front and Rear differential covers. PML aluminum transmission pan, all for running cool. New water pump. Upper and lower ball joints in front end. Front axle universal joints, Drive shaft universal joints. Drive shaft balanced. Brakes serviced within the last year, always with factory Ford parts. New sending unit in gas tank. Basically anything I researched going wrong from mileage or age I tried to take care of. To sum it up, the engine is super strong, runs great, no smoke, clean inside and outside, oil pan isn't rusting out, etc. The transmission is super strong as well, clean inside and outside and literally is like new inside. Shifts in and out of 4WD with no issues. Front hubs and bearings have been replaced and serviced (Warn hubs). Few minor issues:Rear driver's side window switch needs tweaking.Sometimes interior dome lights don't turn off, I believe it's related to rear lift-gate. I keep it disconnected, was going to have my mechanic look at it next visit. This rear lift-gate issue keeps "open door" idiot light on dashboard lit. It goes in and out leading me to believe it is a sensor. Clear coat on wheels starting to peel in some spots. On Nov-15-17 at 14:34:14 PST, seller added the following information: Front Seats are cloth - Rear Seats are Vinyl - There is no 3rd row seat, I no longer have it. The truck runs dual batteries and I replaced them with high quality ODYSSEY brand batteries.
