The insurance decided to total this S-550 after it stalled out while the insured was idling through some standing water on the roadway. The insured took the car to Mercedes Benz of Houston Greenway they removed the spark plugs and spun the engine over by hand, it turned freely and all the cylinders were 175 psi or higher on the compression test. For whatever reason the dealership told the insurance it needed a new engine and knowing the price MB charges for a new S550 engine the insurance totaled the car. We got it into our shop and did a full service on the car using original M-B filters and Mobile 1 0w-40. We checked the trans & rear differential and found no water in either of them. We took the interior trim panels off and felt the foam under the carpet. It was totally dry meaning no water got inside the car. We computer scanned the car and found all the electronics to be functioning properly with no stored fault codes. After a thorough test drive we are pleased to report that this S-Class runs & drives smoothly, is mechanically sound and has no check engine lights on. As you can see in the 50+ photo's this Benz is in very good condition!
