This is a Rabbit built in 1979, model year 1980. As you can see from the photos its a wonderful survivor car. Nearly all original and completely stock.The car had sat localy for about 5 year. To get it up and running i drained the gas tank, replaced the filters, and fuel pump. i put new plugs and a nos remanufactured distributor a battery a few shifter bushing, rear trans mount, she was up and running. the rest is orignal best i can tell. It has the deal service book with stamps. (40k) was done in 1990factory option booklet also factory buitd sheet was under back seat (it has seen better days) I am a watercooled VW guy. I Have owned over a dozen mk1's. these types of examples are becoming so much harder to find. I spent 4 yrs trying to buy it. So you may wonder why i'm selling it? I have decided to put some real effort into finishing a long term Project I have. So the rest of the cars i have must go. That said she does have a few bumps and bruises. The rear hatch shows signs of a poor repair at some point in its life. Along with some surface rust from along the rain gutters, and small points where the paint has chipped or is thin. This is a california car so we are talking patina rust not cancer like a back east car. the floor are completely solid, the pinch weld is straight and not crushed. Dash is cracked, but all cracks are hidden under the dash mat. the black carpet does show some sun fading. It's a oddly optioned car. Its a base model with: Black leatherette interior.1.6 Fuel injected gas engine (1.5 carb'd was the base motor) Factory Mono AM/FM radio, which still works!
