Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1999 Porsche 996. No reserve. I have all records for a complete history of the car since new. Full leather interior in excellent condition. IMS bearing replaced at 93,559 miles by European Specialized Performance in Santa Clara, CA. LNengineering IMS Retrofit serial number IMSR6446. They also installed a rebuilt transmission at that time as well. Rear brakes installed at 106,113 miles by Midtown Autoworks in Sacramento. Front brakes were not replaced given the shop owner said they still had miles left on them. 120,000 mile service performed by Midtown Autoworks at 108,294 miles. Receipts for this work is in the records folder mentioned above. New Michelin Pilot Sports N rated tires at all 4 corners installed at 106,075 miles. The car has had the usual failures 996's are known for: RMS, ignition switch, coolant tank, MAF sensor and vapor separator. These were fixed by the original owner. No IMS failure of course. The car has always passed California smog easily. Clear title in hand. I've had no failures/issues with the car during my ownership. Car accelerates smoothly and tracks straight. No warning lights of any kind. The rear spoiler deploys at 75mph and retracts at 35mph as it's supposed to. The transmission shifts smoothly. I replaced the front/rear deck release levers with black carbon fiber levers, as the original levers are well known to wear and look like crap with these cars. I have the original levers if you want them. So now for what's wrong with the car: 1) cruise control does not work; it was like that when I bought the car. 2) The passenger side vanity mirror cover does not stay open when lifted open; it was like that when I bought the car. 3) The paint has started flaking off of the rear spoiler. See the pic. It's clear to me it's not the same level of paint quality on the spoiler. 4) Driver seat bolster a little worn/cracked. Typical for this car. 5) The black paint where the rear view mirrors attach is fading. See the pic. That's it. No other issues. Car has a few interior rattles on *very* bumpy roads. Some small paint chips on the front end that have been touched up. It's almost a 20 year old car, so that's to be expected. Paint is in very good condition. The car has been a blast to drive. I had a 40 year Porsche 911 itch and it's been scratched. Time to move on and buy a truck/camper combo. It's a good car, one that will definitely scratch your 911 itch. I tried to take decent pics. I don't have access to a lift, so I slid the camera underneath the car and took some pics. Speaking of underneath, the car is absolutely dry underneath. No leaks of any kind. Shop owner confirmed this when performing the major maintenance mentioned above. Happy to answer any/all questions about the car. If you need pics of anything more than what I've posted, let me know. One final note: I'm happy to drive the car to a shipping depot, as long as it's within 100 miles of my home.On Sep-19-17 at 09:33:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: The car comes with two remote keys that both work. These keys are very expensive to reprogram. On Sep-24-17 at 16:59:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm getting two questions that keep coming up. First, has the car been in an accident? As far as I know, the car has not been in an accident. However, I cannot prove that. CARFAX says it hasn't. I'm aware that CARFAX is not without error. Hell, CARFAX says I'm the 5th owner. Wrong. I am the 4th owner. The original owner got married after buying the car. She got married years later and registered the car under her new married name. CARFAX saw that as a new owner. The car was regularly maintained since day 1, and all the maintenance records are in the folder. There's nothing there that indicates the car was in an accident. Second, have I revealed *everything* that is wrong with the car? YES. Everything that I know of. I'm not selling because the car is a piece of crap and want to get rid of it. The car is in perfect running condition and it looks darn good for a nearly 20 year old car. As I said, I asked the mechanic if there's something I need to fix on the car. He's there to make money. He doesn't make money by telling me no. He said no. I'm well aware that the world is full of liars and con artists. If you think I may be one of them, PLEASE send an inspector, a friend, SOMEBODY over to inspect/drive the car. There's still time. The last thing I need or want in my life is a pissed off buyer who thinks I lied to them.
