Vehicle Detail
Here's my 1997 FORD ESCORT LX wagon. I purchased it new from Ford of Bergenfield in New Jersey back in '97. It's a great little car and I hate to part with it, but my sister GAVE ME a 2008 Infinity EX 35 (pretty nice of her, right?) so I have to let this go. I used this car while living in Northern NJ up until 2001 when I moved to Queens. If you're wondering why a car from 1997 has such low mileage on it, let me explain: I'm a comic-book illustrator who works at home, so the car was never used for commuting. After I moved to Queens (and parking was near impossible) I almost never used it at all. (Why drive it into the city and pay for parking when the subway is right on my block??) I am also a part time musician so I did use it from time to time to get to gigs, and run errands etc. To be quite honest, between 2001 to 2017, I spent more time moving the car on street cleaning days than I did driving it around town. Pretty much all the work and maintenance was done by Tommy at TM&T auto on Northern Boulevard so if you want some insight on the on the cars condition you can talk to him. The interior is in pretty damn good shape for a 20 year old car. Not much to complain about there. I had a gasket replaced on the engine block about 2 years ago and the transmission was completely rebuilt about 3 years back, so you shouldn't have any trouble in that department. Sadly, I've had to park the car on the street because I just couldn't garage it in the neighborhood. Therefore, the car has quite a few dings and scratches on it thanks to tons of careless parallel parkers. Mother Nature has left her mark on the car's finish as well, so don't expect a "show-room finish". With all that being said, here are the things that make this car worth the money: Handles surprisingly well for a non-sports car. GREAT ON GAS!!!!! 32 mpg! It costs like $31 to fill it up and I can drive from Queens to Montreal (YES, IN CANADA!!!) on o-n-e tank! This wagon can fit an enormous amount of stuff!!! I highly recommend it for musicians, (especially drummers!!!!) flea market/show vendors, campers, film guys/videographers, DJ's, caterers, handymen, etc. The luggage rack on top allows it to haul even more stuff!! Dual airbags so you and your loved ones will be safe. Tires are in great shapw with very little wear. Power lock (on the driver's side only) with 2 remotes. Power mirrors, tape deck, AM/FM radio, AC, defogger etc. If you're looking for a car to get you from point A to point B safely and don't want to shell out a lot of cash, this is for you. This car has plenty of life left in it but due to it's age I'm setting the price at $900. I'm open to negotiation, but please don't waste my time with ridiculous low-ball offers. This car is a pretty darn good deal for the price. Especially when you consider the fact that this car costs about as much as the new iPhone. Contact me if you want to come take a look at the car or take a test drive. I'm free anytime of day or night except for Mondays and Tuesdays.
