Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an ORIGINAL 1969 Ford Fairlane 500 Sportsroof. This car while needing a complete restoration is a fairly complete project to start with. It has it's share of rust, but is not a total rot box and would make for a pretty straight forward resto. It is a decent car to work with!! This is a 1969 Fairlane 500 Sportsroof that spent it's entire life here in Georgia being sold new in Savannah and eventually moving here to Atlanta a few years back. I got this car in trade against another car I was selling and now I am looking to get it into the hands of someone who can use it. This car was obtained by the last owner as a solid candidate to repair his 1969 Fairlane Cobra which had a tree fall on it during a tornado. This car had been a driver for quite a number of years before being put away for a future restoration. This car is just waiting for the next Torino/Fairlane enthusiast to come along and restore this car to its former glory!! This car was a Stock Order at JC Lewis Motor Company in Savannah, Ga. It was ordered in the Jacksonville, FL. District 24 DSO in this I-code Lime Gold Metallic Hue with an Ivy Gold Bench Seat Interior. This Fairlane was further spec'd out with a F-code 302-2V, C4 Automatic Transmission, and a 3.00 geared conventional rear end! This '69 Fairlane 500 Sportsroof per the Deluxe Marti Report was originally ordered as follows: Fairlane 500 Package 302-2V V8 Engine C-4 Cruise-O-Matic Transmission E70x14 Wide Oval WSW Tires Power Steering Air Conditioning AM Radio Tinted Glass Wheel Covers The 302-2V engine is currently not running and I would figure on a rebuild being in order. Car has an automatic transmission and its condition is not known either; so figure on rebuilding this also. The brakes will need to be gone through as well on this car. This car is not any kind of driver at this point; and will pretty much need to be gone through mechanically; engine, transmission, brakes, suspension etc. The car had been repainted over the original Lime Gold paint as you see here. The body while needing its share of work; does have some bumps and bruises it has acquired over the years; but is actually not a bad car to start with. The 1/4's on this car do have a small amount of rust on the lower rear 1/4's (SEE PICS) most likely from clogged drains. The actual wheel arches on both 1/4's are still decent . This car, shows some wear and tear from its years of road duty and subsequent storage; but is not a terrible car to work with. With that said it is a fairly complete car that needs a complete restoration. The Body on the Fairlane is not perfect, nor paint ready, but is a decent platform from which to start with. The Hood has a bit of rust underneath, but is a repairable piece. The fenders, doors and 1/4's are very decent serviceable pieces to work with. The decklid is rusted and will need to be replaced. The Floors will need to be replaced; but the Frame Rails, Rockers, Trunk Floors etc. are all fairly solid. This car has its share of rust and dents but overall is not a complete rust bucket and actually is a rather decent restoration project with which to start. The Black Bench Seat Interior is mostly complete and will need to be redone. But pretty much everything is available and reasonable to redo! Original AM Radio is in the dash and the original dashpad is in good shape as well. This car was originally equipped with 14 inch Steel Wheels with Wheel Covers and had a mismatched set of Mags with Flat Tires on it when I got it; it now has a Decent set of ORIGINAL Magnum 500 wheels that were put on the car that really give the car a good look! This is a good builder car and as I stated earlier was bought to use as a builder for a damaged 1969 Q-code 428 Cobra Jet Ford Cobra. I do have the Cobra if someone is interested in using this car to fix it and would make the Cobra available to the winning bidder of this auction at extra cost. I will post a couple of pics of the Cobra in this auction; but to be clear this auction is for the 1969 Fairlane 500 only with the Cobra available at extra cost. Overall this is a decent project 1969 Fairlane 500 that is a good restoration candidate with its desirable Fastback body and option list. This car has a clean Georgia transferrable registration (as Georgia does not require titles on pre-1986 vehicles) in my name that is ready for transfer. Please be realistic in your expectations of this car as a nearly 50 year old project car that has been around the block and bumped and bruised a little that needs a complete restoration to include body work, mechanical work, and cosmetic reconditioning. Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the '69 Fairlane 500's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1969 Ford Fairlane 500 is a nearly 50 year old project car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1969 Ford Fairlane 500 project car accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully to make sure this is what you want before bidding.
