Honda History: In 1962 Honda introduced the Trail 55 as an on-off road bike with down swept muffler, 54cc motor and a 3 speed automatic clutch. In 1963 it came with the upswept exhaust and NO front fender. Although later models had a chrome front fender. They came in 2 colors Red & Yellow and were made until 1965. They were a predecessor to the Honda Trail 90. This extremely rare 1963 Honda Trail 55 is a custom creation using an original Trail 55 rolling chassis without a motor and installing a 1965 Honda CT200 Trail 90 motor. I acquired the Trail 55 last summer at a local SoCal Cycle swap meet without a motor. The seller was from Arizona and the wheels were basically rust free and cleaned up very well. Several months later I acquired a 1965 Honda CT200 with a complete 87cc pushrod motor, 4 speed trans with automatic clutch and a very nice exhaust muffler system. I hired a local vintage bike mechanic that completely rebuilt the motor and carburetor(cost over $500 with parts). It runs like new and starts on first kick. I then began the search for missing parts and restored the entire bike from the ground up. I have invested in excess of $1000+ in parts alone.
