Vehicle Detail

You looking at and bidding on a 1968 Porsche 911 L model Targa with the unzipping soft rear window. This is a very complete barn find car. The GOOD, BAD and UGLY. The GOOD: 1968 911L soft rear window Targa with 5 speed transmission (I have been told is pretty rare, maybe some 500 cars built) you experts know the numbers. This appears to be the 35th car built in the 1968 911 line (limited value but interesting low vin number) Motor appears to be original: Cast 901.101.101.OR , stampings 901/1410223, *3280223. Complete with Original components: block halves, cylinder heads, rods, pistons, carbs (410DAP3C, 402DAP3C1), linkage, generator, fan, shrouds, exhausts headers, etc. (see photos for what is there) 5 speed Transmission appears to be original: Cast 901.301.101.OR stampings 901/07 7190656. Complete with shifter, clutch, flywheel, starter, etc. (see photos for what is there) Instruments : Gauges are all unique to the 911L model with 150 speedometer and 6800 redline tachometer. Mileage shows 3970, but I assume has rolled over. Radio and controls appear to be complete. Original key is in the ignition. The Targa top is in place but has seen some weathering (pretty typical for these cars) with the soft rear window frame is there (window long gone). Seats: the driver and passenger seat frames are there and are a good starting point for restoration. Window: both side glass look to be original with the windshield appears to be a replacement. Color: I have been told, the original exterior color was Burgundy Red (6808)with Beige interior (97?). The BAD : The old girl is in need of a complete restoration. She rolls and steers but the rest needs some love. Bring a trailer and I will help load the car a parts. The UGLY: The body rust This restoration is not for the faint of heart. the rear of the car is pretty solid with the front needing a lot of attention. The doors are solid considering the age. Hood and engine cover appear to be replacements from another car (bright red underside) but fit the car. The is a original replacement left front fender (with gas filler door) included with auction. OVERALL: The car has good collectability so this is your opportunity to own a classic Porsche 911L Targa for very little money. This is a no reserve auction with a very reasonable staring bid (heck the motor and trans alone are worth entry) More detailed pictures are available , but not interested in photo collectors, so please respect both of our time and ask for specific views. This vehicle auction is for pick up. I will work with you on shipping but the costs are yours. Export transporter? I need to add $200 to cover the runaround that is involved. Please contact me with any shipping questions. Thanks for looking and bidding. This car needs and deserves a great 2nd life. 911, barn find, vintage, scca, Porsche, long nose karosserie, kunstharzlack, speedster, Targa, 5-speed, no reserve, On Jun-22-17 at 07:00:40 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTICE ++++ UPDATE++++ NOTICE++++++UPDATE++++++ I have had many emails from people with more knowledge than I as to the Porsche 911 cars. I have been told that according to the VIN number that this is a 1968 911 Targa (US delivered), not the "L" model. That being said, I have been told that the engine is a correct "L" engine (block, heads and carbs). All of the numbers are listed in the ad and I can send photos of these numbers. Bottom line: This is still a rare car (one of 268) with a 1968 "L" engine (one of 449) Might this be a factory anomaly? or did someone put a correct "L" engine into this car? IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RETRACT YOUR BID, PLEASE DO SO. I do not want to mislead any buyers and have full disclosure as I am not a Porsche expert. Please read the ad for content before asking for information. NOTICE ++++ UPDATE +++++ NOTICE +++++ UPDATE++++++ Included with the sale are the rear axles w/ CV joints, 2 rear bumpers and bumperettes and center valance w/license plate. (not in photos) The car is still a NO RESERVE auction. the final bid will get the car. Thanks for all the interest and good luck with the bid.
