Vehicle Detail
Due to a couple of mishaps, original auction failed at the end. So, a relist. This is "The Pearl". Photo #1 is when she looked her best, at the end of my driveway, fall colors, 2013. The other three photos are from May 2017. She doesn't look as good now as 4 years ago. 1991 Jaguar XJS convertible, no back seat. 5.3 litre engine. automatic. This car does not run. Not that it couldn't, I guess, but it needs $1500 worth of a repair. This repair is the "harmonic balancer", has to do with the charging system, so while I could charge up a battery, it won't even go 50 miles after that. And appears to leak gas if you try. (I have the replacement part.) I didn't repair it. It has sat on the side driveway for two years. Looks kinda grungy now. I did power wash it some earlier in May. She looks better, see the photos. Vacuumed the interior some, but it needs a steam cleaning. So: sold AS-IS, a "BARN-FIND", a parts car. I was the second owner of the car, bought it from the son of the original buyer. Original seller was Rosenthal in Tysons/Vienna. Original price was $61K. I have that original invoice. Exterior color was called "Oyster", thus this is "The Pearl" I had fun driving it, but that didn't really last too long. A/C does not work (but hey, it's a convertible, what do you need AC for?). Did have power windows, and power roof. They were working 2 yrs ago. Thirstiest car on the planet, maybe 12 mpg. At least the cost of gas is down now. Takes 91+ octane, which was $4/gal when I was driving this thing. Buy it quick or in June I am calling WAMU to make a donation of it. This is local pick up only. You will need to tow it with a flat-bed tow truck, the kind that has a winch. I will not arrange to ship it anywhere, since WAMU will come get it. Cruise control was not working. I might have the rubber piece for that, don't remember. RR tire is new. Others are Pirelli P6, have some wear. Freshy bathed, she still needs a hand-scrub and elbow grease, but not bad. TLC is always good for beauties like this. Boot key missing, never had it. Two ignition keys.
